About The Position

The Manager of Risk & Insurance provides oversight of risk activities with a specialization in business insurance. The responsibility of Risk Management is in coordination with the VP of Risk and Compliance and associated Risk Managers. Specialization area will include coordinating insurance coverage, risk financing, claims and ability to decrease risk and cost as it pertains to insurance and associated programs impacting these areas.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related or associated fields of risk, compliance, healthcare, law, insurance, or experience combined with another supportive degree in related area
  • 2 years’ experience in one of the following areas; healthcare administration, healthcare compliance, risk management, compliance, insurance or claims management, employment law, patient safety or employment related field or related area
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced and complex environment and maintain a sense of urgency
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with cross-functional coworkers and utilize core values
  • Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare staffing experience or knowledge
  • Previous business insurance management experience including multiple lines of business insurance
  • Insurance associate in risk management (ARM), insurance certification, HCRM, Employment Law, HR or training programs in associated supported risk and/ or insurance area

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP of R&C and Risk Management team to manage the risk program priorities within the dept.
  • Managing the Specialty area of Risk Insurance/Business Insurance with key partners internally and externally including brokers and carriers
  • Coordinates with stakeholders within the organization related to insurance coverage needs to limit organizational exposure, cost and mitigation programs as well as other Risk Management areas
  • Partners with Workers Comp risk manager to assure program is managing claims risk and programs to limit exposure while also providing appropriate and necessary care to those who require it. Partner with counsel on settlement and recommendations on Maximum Medical Improvement
  • Ability to complete business insurance applications annually with renewal cycle in coordination with VP R&C and Broker
  • Identifies trends within the organizational with use of internal software and external software and broker/carrier programs. Analysis of reports can be provided and supported to direct leadership and executive board to assist in key decision making. Items such as: loss run, prevention programs, claims management, trends and exposures and financial opportunity for improvement and risk management activities.
  • Ability to oversee risk assessment of all business insurance programs and drive strategies to not only mitigate risk, utilize analytical skills, ensure monitoring programs and adherence to insurance law and industry standards.
  • Provides stewardship to the organization, the departmental team members as well as the clients and employees that are impacted by risk activities
