About The Position

The Manager of Rehabilitation Services performs patient care approximately, as needed, on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the policies and standards of the hospital. This role oversees operations in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehabilitation, DSME and outpatient dietician. The manager directs daily schedules, patient workflows, and clinical assignments for inpatient, outpatient, and swing-bed therapy services. They are responsible for establishing and monitoring clinical standards, evidence-based protocols, and patient safety initiatives. The position also involves managing staff productivity metrics to balance high-quality patient contact with administrative efficiency, ensuring strict adherence to CMS Conditions of Participation and state licensing boards, and auditing documentation for accurate coding and medical necessity. The Manager will coordinate with the Director of Rehabilitation Services to develop, manage, and report on budgets, oversee relationships with contracted entities, and recruit, onboard, mentor, and evaluate therapy staff. Additionally, this role involves partnering with other departments and physicians, developing outpatient and inpatient programs, managing departmental statistics, scheduling, charge entry, chart maintenance, and reporting. Personnel management, assisting in providing a positive patient care experience, and managing departmental supplies are also key responsibilities. Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services field of study
  • 3-5 years experience in rehabilitation services
  • Must have and maintain licensure in specific discipline of Rehab Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Master’s or Doctorate in rehabilitation services field of study
  • 1 year experience in clinical leadership

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Operations in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehabilitation, DSME and outpatient dietician
  • Direct daily schedules, patient workflows, and clinical assignments for inpatient, outpatient, and swing-bed therapy services.
  • Establish and monitor clinical standards, evidence-based protocols, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Monitor staff productivity metrics to balance high-quality patient contact with administrative efficiency.
  • Ensure strict adherence to CMS Conditions of Participation for Critical Access Hospitals and state licensing boards.
  • Audit documentation to ensure accurate ICD-10 coding, compliance with the 8-Minute Rule, and medical necessity for reimbursement.
  • Coordinate with Director of Rehabilitation Services to Develop, manage, and report on the annual operational and capital budgets for rehabilitation services.
  • Oversee relationships and service agreements with contracted entities, external registry staff or specialized consulting therapists.
  • Hire, onboard, mentor, and evaluate physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, therapy assistants, and support staff.
  • Partner with all departments and physicians to optimize care provision and transitions.
  • Work with Director of Rehabilitation Services to develop outpatient and inpatient programs targeted at local community needs.
  • Responsible for the departmental statistics, scheduling of patients, entering charges into the system, maintaining charts, and developing reports as required by the department director.
  • Manages personnel issues including call-ins, sick time, tracking of occurrences, approving PTO, and managing staffing-patient related issues.
  • Assist in providing positive patient care experience dealing with issues as they arise.
  • Manage the ordering of supplies for the department.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
