Manager of Product & Data Analytics

Constant Contact•Waltham, MA

About The Position

Constant Contact is seeking a Manager of Product Data & Analytics to lead, mentor, and empower a high-impact team of product analysts. The role focuses on explaining why product and business metrics change, identifying root causes, and shaping strategic decisions rather than simply reporting results. The manager will build a culture of analytical rigor and work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Growth, Marketing, and Finance leaders to diagnose performance, evaluate launches, and inform the product roadmap. Data is accessible through Snowflake and modern AI tools, including Claude Code. The manager will elevate the team's analytical execution: framing the right questions, rigorously interrogating data, questioning apparent conclusions, and turning evidence into decisive recommendations. The role includes developing analysts, setting standards for analytical quality and business impact, prioritizing the analytics backlog, establishing trusted product measurement, and communicating findings to stakeholders, including senior leaders. It also involves advancing AI-native workflows while carefully validating generated code, logic, and results. This is not a dashboard ticket-queue management, passive reporting, or pure people-administration role. Trusted KPIs and dashboards are foundational; the aim is to build an elite analytics function that improves product understanding, strengthens product decisions, and drives measurable business growth. The role is part of Constant Contact's hybrid workforce model.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in product analytics, growth analytics, or decision science.
  • At least 2 years of direct people-management or formal team-leadership experience in a technology, subscription, SMB, or consumer-facing business.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting, mentoring, and retaining talent and developing analysts' statistical reasoning, product sense, and executive presence.
  • Mastery of activation, engagement, conversion, retention, churn, monetization, and LTV mechanics, including decomposing metric movements into root causes.
  • Strong foundation in experimentation, cohort analysis, hypothesis testing, sample sizing, and causal inference.
  • High proficiency in SQL and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for statistical analysis.
  • Enthusiasm for AI tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor, with the critical judgment to audit AI-generated code and assumptions.
  • Exceptional product sense and ability to connect user behavior to downstream business and financial implications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills; able to challenge assumptions and present complex findings to VP and C-suite stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig or Optimizely.

  • Educational background in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience in SMB technology, email or marketing technology platforms, or AI-powered product experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of product analysts, supporting their learning and career development.
  • Foster high agency, intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, and strong analytical quality, business impact, and storytelling.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and business leaders to translate strategic questions into analytical agendas.
  • Manage the analytics backlog, balancing reactive requests with proactive analyses and prioritizing high-leverage opportunities.
  • Guide investigations into activation, engagement, conversion, retention, and monetization changes to identify root causes.
  • Help the team distinguish product performance from changes in acquisition volume, customer quality, mix, seasonality, and other confounding factors.
  • Ensure analyses account for Simpson's paradox, selection effects, survivorship bias, denominator changes, and instrumentation issues.
  • Champion causal inference, rigorous experimental design, A/B testing, and appropriate statistical standards in product evaluations.
  • Oversee the definition and governance of trusted KPIs, leading indicators, metric trees, and customer segments.
  • Work with Engineering and Product to establish telemetry and telemetry standards before products ship.
  • Ensure complex analyses are communicated through clear visuals, intuitive explanations, and actionable recommendations.
  • Represent analytical evidence in leadership discussions, including when findings challenge prevailing assumptions.
  • Drive adoption of AI-native workflows, advanced SQL/Python, and repeatable-work automation across the team, while validating code, logic, and outputs.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain analytical talent, and develop analysts' statistical reasoning, product sense, and executive presence.
