About The Position

The Manager of Operations provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the OSU Center for Sovereign Nations (CSN). This position ensures the Center’s core functions are executed effectively, manages day‑to‑day operations, and provides operational continuity for a growing unit. Working in close partnership with the Director, the Manager supports CSN’s three‑fold mission of Sovereignty, Students, and Partnerships by facilitating the work of the Center, overseeing personnel and operational coordination, and helping build capacity for future professional staff positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, Management, Communications, or a closely related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in operations management, program administration, or administrative leadership.
  • Experience must include supervision of employees (student or professional) and responsibility for coordinating operational processes.
  • Dedication to learn about and advocate for tribal nation sovereignty.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage daily operations in a dynamic organizational environment.
  • Experience supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating employees.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make operational decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to quickly learn and become proficient with new systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and service excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, Management, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in operations, program management, or administrative leadership.
  • Experience working in a higher education, tribal, nonprofit, or mission‑driven organization.
  • Experience managing budgets or financial tracking.
  • Experience building or scaling operational systems in a small or growing unit.
  • Leadership or supervisory training through a university, professional organization, or employer‑based program.
  • Training or certification in process improvement or operational efficiency methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, or similar).
  • Professional development related to project management, organizational effectiveness, or administrative leadership.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and demonstrated advocacy for tribal nation sovereignty.
  • Knowledge of higher education administrative systems and policies.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating culturally responsive or community‑engaged programming.
  • Ability to develop procedures, workflows, and documentation.
  • Experience mentoring or developing college students.
  • Familiarity with grant‑funded programs or reporting processes.
