In this role, the successful candidate, under the guidance of the Vice President, Hospital Operations, Women and Children's Services, the Operations Manager is responsible for providing operations support, project management and process improvement to optimize the applicable at NYU Langone Hospital Long Island.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of Hospital Operations experience
  • Knowledge of project management tools, methods, and best practices
  • Excellent analytical, organization and planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills applicable to a wide variety of audiences
  • Strong working knowledge of hospital operations sufficient to perform analyses, report preparation, generation of recommendations and development of improvement plans
  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, and modeling data with the ability to articulate findings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to approach new problems and develop a systematic, comprehensive solution
  • Ability to manage change and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in healthcare, business administration, or a related field
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma
  • Experience using Tableau, Visio, and Decision Support reporting programs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and facilitate workflow improvement across emergency services and women and children services through the application of process improvement, quality tools, and methodologies from project identification to completion and through sustainability
  • Appropriately plan and scope projects using quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
  • Develop applicable process and outcome metrics to measure project success; implement reporting solutions for ongoing data monitoring
  • Synthesize complex information in high-quality deliverables for recommendations to key stakeholders and presentations to senior leadership
  • Facilitate meetings to drive critical decisions and completion of tactical next steps to ensure project execution; maintain project plans to reflect current progress
  • Ensure relevant emergency services and women and children's services policies and procedures are updated as needed and remain in line with NYU Langone Health standards
  • Partner with hospital support and ancillary department heads on projects related to operations throughout emergency services and women and children's services
  • Collaborate with RED&F and MCIT teams on construction projects (facility upgrades and renovations) and design optimizations within the ED, OBGYN, and Pediatrics
  • Design and execute interdisciplinary projects to achieve institutional goals
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies within the operations portfolio
  • Develop and implement projects to enhance the patient experience in Emergency Services and Children's Services. Monitor patient satisfaction surveys and comments to identify opportunities for improvement, recommend changes, and implement corrective actions
  • Track and trend operational, quality, and patient satisfaction metrics, and identify opportunities for improvement, including maintaining HRO scorecards.
  • Support operational leadership to ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and requirements (Joint Commission, Department of Health, etc.).
  • Assist with the annual operating budget according to established finance guidelines and explain, in detail, how each item is derived from the budget. Reviews monthly finance reports, ensures all entries are correct, rectifies discrepancies, and explains variances.
