Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of retail management experience required.
  • Experience in a high-volume retail, grocery, or similar environment is required.
  • Previous inventory and financial management experience required.
  • Mid to high-level proficiency with MS Office.
  • Skills to manage financial results, including labor, sales, and profit margin.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Card, Alcohol Server Permit, and ServSafe Certification are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, gross profits, percentages, and sales.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner as to create a win-win situation.
  • Ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through a solution, and implement the solution.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

  • Diverse staff of 25 or more highly preferred.
  • Previous grocery-specific management experience is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of POS, inventory, or other retail-specific software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities for non-perishable departments including Grocery, Deli, Housewares, Receiving, Wellness, Wine & Spirits, and Chalk Artist.
  • Work closely with Department Managers to ensure consistent administration of Company personnel, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage customers in a friendly manner, share product information, and assist in locating products.
  • Seek opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.
  • Manage own time and model a flexible work style, shifting tasks as priorities change.
  • Represent company values and work cooperatively and positively with team members.
  • Give and receive feedback constructively, demonstrating the company’s Speak Up culture.
  • Conserve company resources and work in a manner consistent with the company’s mission, vision, values, and sustainability program.
  • Adhere to work and food safety policies and contribute to store cleanliness.
  • Observe all company rules and policies, understanding and complying with specific department or location guidelines.
  • Train and oversee the overall development of employees under direct supervision.
  • Oversee New-Hire onboarding activities for employees under direct supervision.
  • Ensure customer issues are resolved satisfactorily.
  • Manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Bristol Farms/Lazy Acres Market.
  • Utilize existing tools and best practices to identify and prioritize communications, communicating concisely and accurately.
  • Actively manage staff by providing coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.
  • Responsible for P&L, inventory management, and other budget or sales targets for employees under direct supervision.
  • Responsible for managing labor costs for employees under direct supervision.
  • Document violations of Company policies for employees under direct supervision.
  • May assume the role of acting Store Director in the absence of the Store Director and Manager of Perishables.
