The Manager of Inpatient Nursing, Labor & Delivery and Mom Baby is responsible for carrying out the strategic vision for their departments, aligning with the System and Department of Nursing Mission and Vision. This role requires excellent business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex situations. The manager must have strong financial skills, including the ability to manage budgets and teams to meet organizational objectives, with experience in cost savings, expenditure controls, and efficiencies in healthcare operations. They are responsible for ensuring organized plans are in place for staff selection, evaluation, orientation, continued education, development, competency evaluation, and appropriate scheduling based on patient acuity. This is a patient-focused role with a strong commitment to delivering the highest levels of quality, safety, and customer service, and is responsible for achieving patient satisfaction targets. The position requires experience with process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change, as well as knowledge of continuous quality improvement management principles, practices, and accreditation/certification requirements. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential for effectively communicating with individuals and groups. The manager will participate in and lead hospital and department committees, demonstrate ability in developing and mentoring staff, and lead by example with highly professional behavior, personal and professional accountability, and decisiveness. They must be able to align diverse constituencies' needs and expectations to achieve win-win solutions.
