About The Position

Pali Mountain is a 250-acre residential facility nestled in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. With 850 beds, over 80,000 square feet of operational space, and a blend of hospitality, outdoor education, and camp programming, we are a dynamic and high-tech operation... in the woods. Our IT Director helps ensure everything from WiFi to radios to speakers works seamlessly. We're seeking a technically sharp, big-picture thinker who can also climb a ladder to realign a WiFi bridge when a windstorm shifts it. The Manager of IT at Pali Mountain manages a hybrid PC/Mac environment with roughly 100 endpoints, supports wired and wireless infrastructure (including a fiber installation project), and ensures all systems are up and running.

Requirements

  • Manage a hybrid PC/Mac environment with roughly 100 endpoints.
  • Support wired and wireless infrastructure.
  • Ensure all systems are up and running.
  • Manage approx. 100 computers (PC and Mac) including onboarding, imaging, patching, and software health via tools like Ninja and TeamViewer.
  • Oversee all iPads in cabins and administrative use.
  • Maintain radio systems.
  • Maintain loudspeaker/sound system functionality across campus.
  • Serve as the primary on-site help desk for staff hardware/software/internet troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with off-site IT support vendors for escalated issues.
  • Ensure seamless integration of software across accounting (PC), operations, education, and hospitality (Mac-heavy environments).
  • Ensure server performance and data backup redundancy.
  • Work closely with Accounting to manage any finance-system-specific server needs or integrations.
  • Lead monthly health checks on all tech systems (software, hardware, and connectivity).
  • Maintain detailed inventory logs including purchase dates, depreciation values, and replacement timelines.
  • Track switchgear, access points, radios, laptops, tablets, and other tech assets with labeling and digital logs.
  • Lead and document IT projects like network upgrades, large equipment rollouts, and summer changeovers.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally for seasonal planning and tech needs.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of IT experience, preferably in hospitality, camp, or education settings
  • Strong networking skills (VLAN, STP, Unifi, Meraki)
  • Comfortable managing both PC and Mac systems
  • Familiarity with FileMaker, Motorola radio management software, and device monitoring tools
  • Able to physically access remote buildings (including light hiking and ladder work)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills with a calm and proactive demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain network health across all systems (landline, microwave, SkyLink, and in-progress fiber).
  • Lead inventory, configuration, and monitoring of: WiFi bridges (Unifi), VLANs & switch hierarchy (with STP loop protection), Access points, Meraki and other managed devices.
  • Coordinate fiber project testing, termination, and transition with Operations.
  • Manage approx. 100 computers (PC and Mac) including onboarding, imaging, patching, and software health via tools like Ninja and TeamViewer.
  • Oversee all iPads in cabins and administrative use, ensuring maps and data are up to date.
  • Maintain radio systems: inventory (FileMaker), configuration (Motorola software), firmware updates, and QR-coded self-check in/out.
  • Maintain loudspeaker/sound system functionality across campus.
  • Serve as the primary on-site help desk for staff hardware/software/internet troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with off-site IT support vendors for escalated issues.
  • Ensure seamless integration of software across accounting (PC), operations, education, and hospitality (Mac-heavy environments).
