The Gathering Place is a community health centre located in downtown St. John’s that provides a range of programs and services to individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity and other barriers. Each day, staff and volunteers work together to provide meals, health services, housing supports, and social programs in a safe and welcoming environment. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and strengthen the organization’s people and workplace practices. This role serves as a key partner to leadership and a trusted resource across the organization, providing strategic and operational direction on a wide range of human resources matters. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the oversight and accountability of core HR functions, including labour relations, talent acquisition, employee experience, wellness and policy development. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands on execution, with accountability for ensuring HR practices are fair, consistent and aligned with legislative and organizational requirements. Working closely with leadership, the Human Resources Manager plays a critical role in shaping a respectful supportive, and effective workplace environment while building capacity within the HR function. This role plays a central leadership function in supporting the people and culture of The Gathering Place. The Human Resources Manager ensures that strong, consistent and thoughtful HR practices are embedded across the organization, supporting both employee well being and operational effectiveness. Through both leadership and hands on involvement, this role helps translate organizational values into meaningful day to day practice.
