About The Position

This position is for an INTERNAL ONLY role at Louisiana Delta Community College, within the Workforce & Economic Development Department. The role is an Unclassified - Administrative/Staff appointment. The Manager of General Industry Programs will supervise and support instructional staff and adjuncts for general industry, production, logistics, and related programs. Key responsibilities include monitoring and scheduling certification renewals and retraining sessions, coordinating the scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of various workforce training programs, and developing/updating curriculum. The role also involves maintaining facilities, equipment, and inventory, informing administration of changes, coordinating equipment purchases, monitoring instructor performance, and ensuring programs meet industry-recognized standards. Building relationships with industry partners, managing attendance and retention, and teaching courses in construction and fiber optics are also part of the role. Additionally, the position assists with student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and job placement, maintains accurate records, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and helps develop new programs. The Manager will represent the college at industry events and participate in professional development.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Business, Logistics, Workforce Development or another related field.
• Substantive leadership experience is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Business, Logistics, Workforce Development or another related field.
• Strong background in certification programs and curriculum development, and the design, delivery, and evaluation of customized training solutions for businesses and industries.
• The ability to articulate and implement a vision for advancement of workforce training programs in a public higher education is essential.
• Certifications in the following areas: OSHA 10 and OSHA 30, CPR First Aid

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support instructional staff and adjuncts for general industry, production, logistics, and related programs.
• Monitor and schedule certification renewals and retraining sessions as required, ensuring that instructors are fully certified and compliant with regulatory requirements, and schedule certification training to acquire new credentials aligned with program offerings.
• Coordinate scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of manufacturing, production, industrial safety, logistics, and other workforce training programs.
• Develop, update, and maintain curriculum for manufacturing, production, industrial safety, logistics, and other workforce training programs.
• Maintain laboratories, training facilities, tools, equipment, consumable materials, and inventory.
• Inform the administration of any planned or unplanned changes in classroom activities, including absences, time changes, and meetings.
• Coordinate equipment purchases with Director and assist with grant-funded projects.
• Monitor instructor performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
• Ensure training programs meet the requirements of industry-recognized credentials and certifications.
• Develop and maintain relationships with construction contractors, telecommunications contractors, broadband providers, manufacturers, vendors, workforce agencies, and economic development partners.
• Implement and manage attendance procedures and retention activities to maximize student participation and success.
• Teach classroom, laboratory, and hands-on courses in construction and fiber optics as needed, using a range of instructional strategies, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction, to engage students effectively.
• Assist with student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and job placement activities.
• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, certification documentation, equipment records, and required reports in accordance with college policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, college policies, and safe classroom, laboratory, and worksite practices.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new construction, fiber optic, broadband, and infrastructure programs based on regional industry demand.
• Represent the college at industry meetings, career fairs, workforce events, and community activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, in-service training, and multidisciplinary team meetings to stay current with industry standards and teaching best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
