About The Position

The Manager of Employee Relations leads and manages employee relations (ER) functions across the organization to ensure timely, consistent, and legally defensible resolution of workplace concerns. This role supervises assigned HR Business Partners, including work direction, coaching, performance feedback, and performance evaluations. The position oversees ER case management, including intake, review, documentation, resolution, and follow-up, and conducts or oversees workplace investigations involving complaints, policy violations, and workplace concerns. The Manager advises and coaches leaders on elevated ER matters, corrective action, performance management, and policy application, while interpreting HR policies and supporting consistent application across departments. This role resolves complex workplace conflicts, maintains accurate and confidential ER documentation, and develops, analyzes, and presents ER metrics and trends to leadership to identify risks and support decision-making. The Manager partners with senior leadership, Compliance, Legal, and operational leaders to reduce organizational risk and support a fair, respectful workplace. Other duties may be assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years of progressive HR experience, including at least three (3) years direct employee relations, workplace investigation, corrective action, or HR Business Partner responsibilities (if no degree).
  • Two (2) years’ experience supervising/leading professional staff (with or without degree).
  • Knowledge of employment law fundamentals.
  • Skilled in conducting complex investigations and preparing clear, defensible documentation.
  • Understanding of corrective action and documentation standards.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution and leader coaching ability.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive and high-risk situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • Six (6) years of HR experience with direct ER responsibilities.
  • Four (4) years’ experience supervising/leading professional staff.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
  • Knowledge of healthcare human resources practices and regulatory environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of ER principles, including investigations, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong ability to analyze employee relations data, identify trends, and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to lead and develop Business Partners, including performance management and team oversight.
  • Ability to influence and coach leaders on complex and sensitive employee issues.

  • Partners with senior leadership, Compliance, Legal, and operational leaders to reduce organizational risk and support a fair, respectful workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the department and organization.
