About The Position

This position requires both the knowledge of the nursing practice and principles of management. This employee coordinates intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities during assigned tour of duty. He/she functions as the in-house Administrator. All requests for consultation with the Hospital Administrator-on-Call must be filtered through the Administrative Supervisor. When the Department Director or administrator is not present, the administrative supervisor is ultimately responsible for all activities within the hospital.

Requirements

Current Florida Registered Nurse License.
Current ACLS, BLS, & PALS Certificates from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross.
One year of managerial nursing experience at the Clinical Manager/Charge Nurse Supervisor or Director level.
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management course.
Minimum 3 years' experience in acute care nursing.
Computer Skills

B.S. Degree in Nursing/Health Administration (or a degree-seeking candidate) preferred.
Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Makes frequent rounds to all departments to ensure appropriate functioning of operations within the organization.
Evaluates a sample of patient medical records to evaluate staff compliance with assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, plan of care, interventions, and evaluation.
Provides feedback as necessary to individual staff members regarding their performance.
Confers with Nursing Directors as necessary to determine quality of care issues and to resolve problems.
Participates and/or ensures Tempo Huddle occurs at the designated time.
Provides feedback as necessary to other department heads regarding the quality of services delivered by ancillary services.
Ensures staff compliance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
Consistently follows the hospital policy and procedure in transferring and receiving patients to and from other facilities.
Consistently monitors compliance with standards of care by observations, verbal reports, and written documentation; regularly communicates results to appropriate individual.
Assists in the development of a plan to increase compliance and implements actions to correct deficiencies.
Reviews patient census and acuity reports and assesses the number of staff and staff mix.
Assesses the qualifications & competence of service personnel; ensures adequate number of personnel is available to support the needs of the patients.
Is flexible and able to adjust assignments according to changes in staffing.
Obtains temporary nursing personnel to supplement nursing staff based on the needs of the patients after exhausting all possibilities.
Ensures appropriate credentialing of temporary nursing personnel; maintains current credentials in files; ensures evaluation of agency nurses.
Personally evaluates the acuity of patients when making staffing decisions.
Promptly and fully investigates and resolves complaints of patients, visitors, and physicians through own action or referral to higher authority.
Ensure incident reports are completed timely for events that occur during the shift.
Ensures the implementation of an integrated and collaborative performance improvement process to improve the delivery of patient care.
Ensures the monitoring of infection control and surveillance as indicated in the Infection Control plan.
Completes Supervisor report with accuracy.
Follows through on issues without the need for follow up by senior management.
Shows fairness in the application of policies and communicates effectively with subordinates.
Takes a proactive approach to resolve problems, offers solutions to issues.
Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a calm demeanor during stressful situations.
Able to communicate effectively with members of the medical staff.
Participates in hospital community events.
