About The Position

Gee Automotive Companies is seeking a strategic and hands-on Manager of Centralized Accounting to lead our centralized accounting operations in Milwaukie, Oregon. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent accounting support across multiple dealerships while driving standardization, scalability, and continuous process improvement. You'll partner closely with dealership and corporate leadership, develop high-performing teams, strengthen internal controls, and help integrate newly acquired stores into our growing organization. Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of automotive dealership accounting operations, financial controls, and dealership accounting processes.
  • Strong understanding of multi-store month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience establishing accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements.
  • Demonstrated success leading accounting managers, controllers, and accounting teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with dealership leadership, executives, auditors, and accounting professionals.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 7 years of automotive dealership accounting experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting leadership experience with responsibility for multiple locations, business units, or dealerships.
  • Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a centralized accounting or shared-services environment.
  • Experience integrating newly acquired dealerships or businesses.
  • Experience with CDK and/or Reynolds & Reynolds.
  • CPA designation.
  • Previous experience as a Manager of Accounting, Regional Controller, Corporate Controller, or multi-store Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Centralized Accounting team.
  • Build and maintain effective accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Establish performance expectations, training programs, and accountability measures for team members.
  • Oversee the centralized month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Monitor key accounting metrics, reconciliations, aging schedules, and close completion targets.
  • Review accounts receivable, unapplied cash, inventory schedules, vendor activity, and other key balance sheet accounts.
  • Partner with Controllers, Business Managers, General Managers, and executive leadership to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Drive standardization, automation, and efficiency initiatives across accounting functions.
  • Support the accounting integration of newly acquired dealerships.
  • Oversee regulatory and tax compliance reporting, including Forms 8300 and 1099 reviews.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and tax preparation processes.
  • Evaluate staffing needs, workflow effectiveness, and service levels to support continued growth.
  • Travel to dealership locations as needed.
