MANAGER OF BUSINESS INNOVATION
About The Position
The Manager of Business Innovation plays a key role in identifying and advancing opportunities that support EDP’s growth, operational effectiveness, and long-term strategy. This position will evaluate emerging business opportunities, market trends, technologies, and new ways of working, then partner across the organization to turn promising ideas into actionable initiatives. Working closely with leaders and cross-functional teams, the Manager of Business Innovation will help move initiatives from concept and evaluation through development and implementation. This role combines strategic thinking, data-driven analysis, project leadership, and collaboration to solve business challenges, improve how we operate, and identify opportunities to create value. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. They can see the big picture while also driving the details needed to move an idea forward. Most importantly, they know that innovation is not just about generating ideas; it is about identifying the right opportunities, building alignment, and turning those opportunities into measurable business results.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business innovation, corporate strategy, business transformation, strategic initiatives, consulting, or a related role.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects or strategic initiatives from concept through implementation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate data and business insights into clear recommendations.
- Experience developing business cases and presenting recommendations to business leaders and key stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive work forward in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities, emerging technologies, market trends, and innovative solutions that support EDP’s strategic objectives.
- Lead innovation initiatives from initial concept and business case development through testing, implementation, and measurement.
- Partner with teams across EDP, including Operations, Finance, Marketing, Technology, and other business functions, to evaluate opportunities and execute strategic initiatives.
- Conduct market, competitive, financial, and operational analysis to inform recommendations and investment decisions.
- Develop business cases, presentations, recommendations, and implementation plans for senior leadership.
- Facilitate working sessions, workshops, and other collaborative forums that help teams solve problems, develop ideas, and translate opportunities into action.
- Establish success measures and monitor the performance and business impact of innovation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer and employee experiences, and operational efficiency through technology and new approaches.
- Develop relationships with external partners, technology providers, startups, and industry experts to expand EDP’s access to new ideas and capabilities.
- Help build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging experimentation, collaboration, learning, and thoughtful change.
