Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics preferred) or MBA, with 7+ years of experience; 2 of which in a supervisor role
  • Either Undergrad or Master’s Degree must be Engineering related

Responsibilities

  • Has direct supervisory responsibility of 3-5 Materials Project Managers (MPM)
  • Evaluates employee performance and provides recommendations for promotions and merit increases
  • Serves as a cross-functional link; maintain open communication among matrixed stakeholders
  • Influences others across a matrix of functions throughout the program/project
  • Ensures that key supply chain metrices are met for all programs across the business units
  • Drives alignment between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance & quality on key insource/outsource decisions
  • Leads MPMs to coordinates product development process deliverables through a matrix organization of engineers, commodity business managers, buyers, planners, and production control.
  • Supervises MPMs to create, release and update new project materials strategy
  • Guides MPMs in supplier price and delivery negotiations; leads “high-stakes” negotiations
  • Ensures that new products are meeting material cost targets and Gross Margin targets; facilitate and maintain Cost Apportionment Models
  • Guides program team to identify cost reduction opportunities through design, content reduction/should cost and commercial means; ensures timely implementation of such opportunities
  • Supervises supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts
  • Supervises MPMs to understand drivers for long lead material and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develops and executes dual sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risk of new products prior to commercialization
  • Negotiates exclusivity agreements for differentiated products
  • Oversees commercialization (transition) of materials plan
  • Is a point of escalation to mediate and resolve supplier quality issues for assigned product groups; escalate issues to Commodity Business Managers/Heads when necessary.
  • Presents new product sourcing strategies to GM, COO & Commodity Heads
