About The Position

The Manager, NDIS Worker Check role is within the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) and plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety of NDIS participants by screening workers. This division operates under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Checks) Act 2018 (NSW), reviewing criminal and workplace records to assess potential risks. The Manager leads a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring efficient and consistent decision-making that is evidence-based. This role involves providing guidance, developing staff capabilities, and ensuring compliance with legislation and business policies. The Manager will coordinate Team Leaders and Assessment Officers in reviewing applicant history and making risk assessments. The role requires a leader who demonstrates values of fairness, openness, accountability, and respect, with strong technical competence and people management skills. The position is full-time, ongoing, located at Strawberry Hills, with hybrid/flexible working arrangements. The salary is Clerk Grade 11/12, $154,231– $178,369 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive relevant workplace experience is required.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working With Children Check.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children's Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in risk analysis and assessment is preferred.
  • Proven experience in administrative or regulatory decision making is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates a multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Ensures efficient execution of decisions, consistency in decision-making across the team, and that decisions are evidence-based.
  • Provides advice and guidance, develops capabilities and competency, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, business policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates a team of Team Leaders and Assessment Officers that review history information about applicants, reviewing and categorising criminal, workplace and other records in accordance with relevant legislation and business procedures.
  • Makes assessments as to whether an applicant poses a risk of harm to people with disability (NDIS participants).
  • Manages the day-to-day performance of the team including allocating and progressing work, providing direction and guidance, resolving issues, and ensuring decisions are considered and timely.
  • Participates in review, reform or monitoring projects, identifying areas to improve processes and practice, and providing advice across the team.
  • Supports staff through uncertainty and change in a high volume, challenging and dynamic operating environment.
