About The Position

The Manager, Merchandising Planning, leads category financial forecasting and merchandise planning by leveraging data analytics and business intelligence to drive informed decisions. This role partners cross-functionally to align forecasts, optimize promotional strategies, and manage inventory effectively. The position requires a strategic mindset to assess business health, influence category direction, and deliver actionable insights that enhance customer and financial outcomes. The manager fosters a collaborative environment, upholds company values, and champions continuous improvement to support Walmart’s mission of delivering value and excellence across all channels. The Merchandising Execution team transforms assortment strategies into actionable inventory plans, ensuring product availability across all shopping channels. Collaborating closely with Merchants, the team enhances inventory productivity, in-stock performance, and financial outcomes. Utilizing expertise in inventory planning, forecasting, supply chain coordination, and data analysis, the team optimizes product flow and addresses challenges efficiently. This group drives key decisions related to inventory, service, and profitability, supporting a seamless customer experience through continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration. Their efforts contribute significantly to operational excellence and financial success at scale.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in merchandising and category management with strong financial forecasting and inventory planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and apply business intelligence to drive profitable merchandise planning decisions.
  • Experience managing profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities and developing actionable financial models.
  • Strong capability in inventory forecasting and allocation to optimize stock levels and meet customer demand.
  • Skilled in collaborating cross-functionally to align financial targets with business strategies and customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial insights clearly to influence decision-making and improve business outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field and 2 years’ experience in retail, merchandising, forecasting, or related area.
  • OR 4 years’ experience in retail, merchandising, forecasting, or related area.
