About The Position

Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a curious, driven, and innovative leader to elevate its Merchandising Analytics capabilities. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is transforming the way work is done and value is delivered across the business. The Manager, Merchandising Analytics will leverage advanced data techniques to support pricing and planning decisions for the Super Market Division. This role requires strong people leadership and team management skills, with close interaction with Senior Analysts. The focus will be on improving existing predictive models, developing new ones, and automating decision-making processes. Collaboration with category managers, the loyalty team, space planning, and project management is key to gaining deep insight into the retail business and driving meaningful results. This role requires a 4-day in-office presence at the Loblaw Head Office in Brampton.

Requirements

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn data into meaningful recommendations.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an analytical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, with demonstrated business impact.
  • Experience leading or mentoring team members, with the ability to coach, guide, and support others effectively.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and BI tools such as Power BI or MicroStrategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly to leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to derive insights and influence decisions from data.
  • A customer-first mindset, with the ability to connect analytics to business value.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a large retail environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AI and LLMs is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of analytics and insights across planograms, assortment, space planning, pricing, loyalty, customer insights, and segmentation.
  • Partner with merchandising, category management, loyalty, space planning, and project management teams to support key business priorities and long-term initiatives.
  • Drive ad hoc and recurring analysis across control brand vs. national brand, vendor performance, promotional performance, and customer-level performance.
  • Develop, enhance, and automate decision-making processes using advanced analytics and machine learning techniques.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support pricing strategy, planning decisions, and category performance.
  • Work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and with Loblaw/vendor partners to refine existing tools, algorithms, and business processes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a Senior Analyst, creating an environment of accountability, growth, and strong team performance.
  • Ensure all work complies with legal, privacy, and confidentiality requirements when handling sensitive information.
