About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Aerospace Engineering and will manage/direct the day-to-day operations of a Mechanical Engineering Team (approximate group size of 12). The group is responsible for design and integration for aircraft system upgrades and structural modifications. Responsibilities include the design and liaison of aircraft primary and secondary structure using military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents using 3D CAD. Must be experienced in engineering drawing preparation and interpretation as well as provide leadership review of designs/drawings. The group is primarily responsible for the design and liaison activities related to electrical racks and external antennas. The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for job assignments, manpower estimates, project and engineering status, project bid support, employee training, goals and reviews, and management of overhead budgets. The Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance to company processes relating to mechanical designs and those processes are periodically reviewed for improvement or currency standards. The Manager sets the highest ethical standards for self and others, commits to Continuous Improvement initiatives and drives positive change throughout the group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering and minimum 9 years prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree (Mechanical, Aeronautical and/or Systems Engineering a plus) with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with mechanical design principles of aircraft structure and components.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in modifications to aircraft primary and secondary structure.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with electronic equipment and antenna installations.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Planning, scheduling, and budgeting tasks for the Mechanical Engineering Team.
  • Design and liaison of aircraft systems and structures utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents utilizing 3D CAD.
  • Provide liaison to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering design/drawings.
  • Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Willingness and ability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
