The Role: Our site in Hillsboro, OR, is seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to join our team. This leadership role is designed for an experienced professional who is both a technical project leader and a dedicated people manager. The core mission of this position is to help us drive our own growth with safety and quality. The Manager will achieve this by leading a team of engineers to execute high-impact capital and continuous improvement projects across the site. This role requires a strategic mindset to identify opportunities, the project management expertise to drive them to completion, and the leadership skills to develop and guide a high-performing technical team. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex engineering projects in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a people management or formal team leadership role, with a passion for developing technical talent.
  • Proven expertise in manufacturing problem-solving and process improvement tools (e.g., LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC).
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading capital projects and business continuity initiatives.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop a multi-year vision while executing a tactical plan.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • A strong background in Quality Systems (QC, QA) with demonstrated results in improving manufacturing yield.
  • High degree of competency with statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab) and data analytics methods (e.g., SQL).
  • Experience implementing and supporting automation solutions in a manufacturing setting.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a proven track record of fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Capital and Improvement Projects: Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects, from initial concept and justification to implementation and qualification.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost across manufacturing processes.
  • Manage and Develop a Team: Provide direct leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of manufacturing engineers.
  • Foster professional growth by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and supporting career development.
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Develop and execute a long-term strategy for process and equipment improvements.
  • Identify and implement solutions leveraging methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and FMEA to improve yield and reduce variation.
  • Enhance Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, and R&D.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to resolve complex production and engineering challenges.
  • Ensure Engineering Excellence: Drive accountability for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and responding effectively to customer needs.
  • Ensure all processes, policies, and training requirements are robustly defined and followed by the team.
