About The Position

As a Live Production CoE Manager at Warner Bros Discovery's News, Sports, and Entertainment Live Production centers in Atlanta, Georgia, you will be a key leader responsible for overseeing the convergence of information technology and broadcast engineering technology. Your primary focus will be on supporting the designated Center of Excellences and their respective Leads and team members, you will align technology with short and long-term business goals. You will participate in strategy development with clients and partners, leveraging cross-divisional engineering expertise to deliver comprehensive products and services that support company objectives. The Live Production Manager will manage their team: Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures standards. Analyze staff's performance and provide guidance to help them improve and advance in their careers. Building trust among colleagues. Skillful delegation of tasks and responsibilities. Representing the team's interests, objectives, and principles. Identifying, leading and/or participating in team building exercises Be open to change, embrace new technologies, and stay updated with industry trends The Live Production CoE Manager is a self-directed expert in designing, building, configuring, automating, maintaining, and providing advanced support for the movement and transformation of video in a 24x7x365 live news, sports, and entertainment production environment. The Live Production CoE Manager translates business requirements into functional requirements and specifications, producing systems that meet business needs through the assembly of existing hardware, new hardware, networking and software components, interfacing as needed with automation, monitoring and logging tools. They spare no detail in attention to availability, performance, capacity planning, and security. They frequently work with operational partners who specify the business needs, software developers, who focus on code authoring; systems architects, who focus on large scale system relationships; business analysists, who gather business requirements; and vendors, who create many of the products Lead Systems Engineers use. The CoE’s are expected to produce novel solutions to problems, not merely to execute procedures developed by others and your role in managing them is vital to the success of the teams.

Requirements

  • A four-year engineering degree (or equivalent work experience in Live Broadcast engineering with 10+ years of experience in a Broadcast environment.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting skills in live broadcasting.
  • Understanding of Postproduction technical workflows.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Excels in both written and verbal communication.

  • Responsible for long range project planning, budgeting and execution.
  • Working closely with project managers, stakeholders, and project teammates to prioritize, schedule and deliver exceptional technical solutions, while providing expert guidance to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Removing obstacles, assisting with budgeting, and playing a pivotal role as a technical designer, ensuring the team develops innovative solutions that align with project goals.
  • Providing enhanced oversight and guidance to the day-to-day operation of the relevant Warner Bros Discovery’s Live Production Centers of Excellence.
  • Leading a team of skilled professionals to make informed technical decisions to deliver production requirements and protect our on-air brands.
  • Evaluating the departmental workflow, identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Evaluating and prioritizing incidents in our ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Communicating status updates to partners.
  • Serving as an escalation point during major incidents and outages.
  • Planning training and reviewing documentation practices for our knowledge base to improve KPIs.
  • Managing key vendor relationships, serving as a liaison for escalations and collaborative product development.
  • Fostering strong partnerships with vendors to shape our technical vision and direction as the business needs.
  • Proactively engaging with vendors to address any issues or escalations, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of challenges.
  • Working closely with vendors to drive product development initiatives, leveraging their expertise to align with our evolving technical goals.
