About The Position

This role is responsible for administering and controlling the work performed by a team of Licensing Compliance Department staff. The position involves planning, scheduling, organizing, and assigning work, as well as developing and recommending short and long-range performance plans with clear objectives and standards. The Manager will monitor job performance, address personnel matters, and administer the collective agreement. They will also assess staff strengths and development needs, providing feedback and guidance. The role requires developing policies and procedures, interpreting legislation, and facilitating compliance with program mandates. Additionally, the Manager will initiate and manage projects to support contractor licensing, identify non-compliant entities, and educate licensees. They are expected to proactively improve processes, prepare and present information sessions, and develop reports on licensing discipline activities. The position also involves coordinating and presenting ESA activities, overseeing Master Electrician exam administration, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices. The Manager will provide advice and guidance to internal departments and external stakeholders, collaborate to resolve problems, and communicate key issues. They will also initiate and manage programs to monitor contractor and master electrician compliance and participate in the development and distribution of licensing reports.

Requirements

  • Facilitating interpretation of Licensing requirements and matters relating to department decisions.
  • Developing, initiating, and managing projects and tools to support the ongoing development of Contractor licensing.
  • Establishing processes, systems, and plans to identify companies and persons operating in contravention of Licensing legislation.
  • Educating licensees of their responsibilities to improve compliance.
  • Taking initiative to improve current processes while considering potential problems, opportunities, and needs.
  • Assessing alternatives and their impact and potential problems.
  • Preparing and presenting information sessions.
  • Developing reports and preparing communications on Licensing discipline activities.
  • Preparing information or communications regarding the Master Electrician exam.

  • Initiating and managing programs and initiatives to monitor compliance of licensed contractors and master electricians.
  • Establishing processes and plans to assist in the development, review, and improvement of document policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the development of various Licensing reports, supporting report generation and distribution.
  • Performing other duties as required.
