Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of four years work experience.
  • Knowledge of health policy and federal legislative and regulatory processes, including understanding of health workforce and practice issues, and public health.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on short timelines.
  • Ability to provide timely assistance related to AAFP members and chapter inquiries, commission/governance activities on legislative issues.
  • Ability to present to a variety of audiences at national, state and regional meetings and to Congressional staff and legislators.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes advocacy strategy to advance family medicine priorities before the United States Congress and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifies priority issues and opportunities to engage with policymakers, in collaboration with the Government Relations team and other internal divisions.
  • Monitors and responds to federal legislation.
  • Directly lobbies Congressional offices.
  • Drafts written materials including Congressional testimony and letters.
  • Develops other content to support advocacy activities.
  • Maintains relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Represents the organization in coalitions and other meetings.
  • Aids in the development and implementation of grassroots strategy and strategic political giving, including attending political events on behalf of FamMedPAC.

Benefits

  • Salary Range $99,638.00 - $140,918.00
