About The Position

The Manager Legal Real Estate leads and oversees a team of real estate paralegals, providing direction, prioritization, and quality control to ensure consistent, high-quality support across all workstreams. In addition to managing team performance, this role requires hands-on involvement in all phases of real estate acquisition and disposition, including contract review, tracking critical dates, and overseeing preparation of key transaction documents such as leases, titles, plats and surveys, closing documents, and development agreements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a paralegal or equivalent job experience
  • Management/People Leader experience
  • Minimum 2 years in a management or supervisory role
  • Hands-on, self-starter who is disciplined and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting that requires a highly accurate and timely work product.
  • Excellent listening, written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excels in a team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong work ethic and accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, document formatting, and contract structure.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with precision and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), OneDrive, SharePoint and DocuSign.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor the real estate paralegal team, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Coordinate and manage the tasks and projects of the real estate paralegal team in carrying out the necessary operations needed to support the overall real estate department
  • Handles preliminary review and compliance of various documents supporting the real estate acquisition process, including, but not limited to title commitments, surveys, plats, title documents, executed contracts, leases, and other legal due diligence materials and supporting documentation.
  • Drafts closing documents, contract amendments, easements, objection letters, and other documents related to the acquisition and disposition of real estate for Corporate Counsel’s review.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains critical dates, deadline notification emails and circulates to Real Estate and Engineering team, Corporate Counsel, and other team members consistent with the Service Level Agreement.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently and keeps other team members apprised of the current state of the real estate projects.
  • Serves as a point of communication with the title company to obtain title documents, clear title insurance requirements, and coordinate upcoming closings.
  • Creates, organizes, and maintains a legal file for each location to be acquired, sold, or leased.
  • Files, organizes, and creates closing binders for each closing transaction.
  • Support and assist members of the Legal Department with transactions, such as organizing checklists, including arranging closing documentation and collecting due diligence for real estate transactions
  • Support critical business, security and compliance information aspects of company’s acquisition and development of property and facilities.
  • Manage and assist internal stakeholders regarding legal, compliance and security documentation
  • Performing other task and responsibilities of legal matters and general business matters based on the needs of the department
