About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Labour Relations, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is responsible for leading labour relations and occupational health & safety programs, providing expert guidance to management while fostering a high-performing team and ensuring compliance with legislation and collective agreements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
  • Experience leading or coordinating teams, with a focus on supporting performance, development, and a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Experience in collective bargaining and grievance resolution, including working with union representatives and external adjudication bodies.
  • Experience supporting occupational health & safety programs and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Experience translating organizational priorities into operational plans and delivering programs or services effectively.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment and building constructive labour-management relationships.
  • Experience identifying risks, trends, and opportunities, and contributing to improvements in policies, practices, or service delivery.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of labour relations principles, collective agreement interpretation, and grievance/arbitration processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment-related legislation (e.g., labour standards, human rights, occupational health & safety) and their practical application.
  • Knowledge of occupational health & safety frameworks, programs, and joint committee processes.
  • Knowledge of labour‑management relations in a unionized environment, including collective bargaining practices and trends.
  • Knowledge of performance management and accommodation principles.
  • Knowledge of organizational planning and service delivery, including how to translate strategic direction into operational work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a skilled labour relations and OH&S team by coordinating work, enabling development, and maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of labour relations and OH&S programs, translating organizational priorities into clear operational approaches and consistent service delivery.
  • Provide strategic advice and insight to management on employee and labour relations matters, identifying risks, trends, and practical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, legislation, and policies by guiding interpretation, supporting consistent application, and improving practices where needed.
  • Represent the organization’s interests in collective bargaining and union engagement, supporting effective resolution of issues.
  • Oversee grievance management and OH&S programs, ensuring sound case strategies, strong stakeholder relationships, and continuous improvement.
