About The Position

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Kennesaw, GA. You will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and sustainment of workplace safety programs that ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards. This role plays a key leadership function in creating and maintaining a safe working environment by proactively identifying hazards, conducting safety audits, delivering effective training, and enforcing safety requirements across all operational sites. This position provides direct safety leadership for three Parts & Accessories warehouses and offers guidance and oversight for four 3PL Finished Goods warehouses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Engineer, or a related field required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in workplace safety, environmental health, or occupational safety in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments.
  • 4–6 years of safety management experience, including leading safety initiatives and influencing operational teams.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification
  • Proficient in MS Office: MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and apply corrective/preventive actions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Able to travel approximately 20% of the time to other warehouse locations and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive safety policies and procedures across all facilities. Conduct regular audits and reviews of critical safety practices, including forklift and pedestrian safety, loading and unloading procedures, SDS documentation control, and overall warehouse operational safety. Provide direction and coaching to site leaders to reinforce safety expectations, identify gaps, recommend corrective actions, and ensure consistent adherence to established safety standards across all locations.
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain all required permits, documentation, and regulatory reporting while conducting regular compliance audits to identify gaps and implement corrective actions. Lead coordination with regulatory agencies during inspections or inquiries and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact. Stay ahead of evolving safety and environmental regulations, assess their operational impact, and proactively update internal policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure the organization remains compliant and prepared for future requirements.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all employees, including full‑time staff, temporary workers, and contractors. Ensure training covers required OSHA topics, job‑specific safety practices, emergency procedures, equipment operation, and hazard awareness. Maintain accurate documentation of all training sessions, certifications, and renewal dates, and ensure employees remain current with all mandated safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections across all warehouse operations to proactively identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions. Analyze risks, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution. Lead and maintain the bi‑weekly 5S program to promote workplace organization, safety, and continuous improvement. Monitor trends from audit findings to support long‑term hazard‑reduction strategies.
  • Work closely with building supervisors, warehouse managers, HR, and other key stakeholders to enforce safety standards and ensure consistent compliance across all locations. Communicate safety expectations, policy changes, incident findings, and ongoing updates clearly and effectively to all staff. Foster strong partnerships with operational teams to support a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for all warehouse locations. Coordinate and lead regular emergency drills—including fire, evacuation, severe weather, and other site‑specific scenarios—to ensure employee readiness and compliance with regulatory requirements. Work with facility leadership to evaluate drill results, address gaps, and continuously improve emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Investigate and document all safety incidents, including near misses and recordable injuries, to determine root causes and contributing factors. Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and partner with leadership teams to identify required corrective and preventive action items. Track follow‑up actions to ensure timely completion, verify effectiveness, and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and workplace practices that reduce future risk and support continuous safety advancement.
  • Ensure all work practices and safety activities are performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract requirements, and recognized safety and engineering best practices. Monitor adherence across all warehouse operations and partner with leadership to address any deviations or non‑compliant activities promptly.
  • Analyze incident reports, safety metrics, and injury case studies to identify trends, root causes, and systemic risks. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions that reduce future incidents and strengthen overall workplace safety. Use data‑driven insights to recommend policy updates, training enhancements, and operational changes that support a safer and more proactive safety culture.
  • Conduct an annual review of all building Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure they accurately reflect current operations, regulatory requirements, and best safety practices. Update documentation as needed to address process changes, audit findings, or new safety standards. Collaborate with facility leadership to validate revisions and ensure all staff are trained on updated procedures.
