About The Position

This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. The IT Manager is instrumental in leading our FACTS Financial Aid Management Development Teams. In addition to having strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships with other departments is important in your role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience, preferably in IT.
  • Experience mentoring and developing others and/or leading a significant change within a team.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and judgment skills combined with trustworthiness.
  • Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others.
  • Forward-thinking approach to AI utilization within the SDLC and day-to-day activities.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with direct reports, clients, colleagues, and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Competency in resolving diverse and complex business/technical problems.
  • Ability to motivate others to perform their best and advance their skills through instilling purpose, vision and optimism.
  • Drive to deliver effective solutions/outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches, motivates and professionally develops team members, helping to set and model desired quality techniques.
  • Builds strong relationships with IT, Product, and Operations leaders to seek feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Translates technical detail into business relevant language.
  • Sets clear objectives and measures, aligned with organizational goals, to evaluate the performance of team members and to utilize in compensation recommendations.
  • Promotes teamwork and cooperation within and across teams.
  • Implements lean solutions to improve team efficiency while maintaining effectiveness.
  • Assesses and improves team health.
  • Creates a culture that makes room for failure, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads the hiring process for team members.
  • Contributes to strategic planning decisions such as budget and staffing plans.
  • Responsible for product or initiative delivery, including quality, efficiency and work timeliness.
  • Effectively communicates the status of ongoing initiatives and the state of the product, working with Product Owners and Teams to address stakeholder concerns.
  • Assists Agile teams in implementing designs for large-scale software projects that meet customer and business needs.
  • Discusses where our systems are today and where we want to take them and helps design how we can best get there.
