About The Position

This position will establish, maintain, and oversee a fully functional IT Disaster Program. This includes disaster recovery planning, IT risk assessment, disaster recovery exercises, and other ongoing initiatives to enhance IT recoverability capabilities. The Manager - IT Disaster Recovery will partner with other members of IT to provide standardized end-to-end support and will act as the primary focal point for all IT Disaster Recovery related functions. The Manager - IT Disaster Recovery will have the overall responsibility of the ongoing development and maturation of Disaster Recovery processes, including aligning and ensuring compliance with enterprise processes, defining roles and responsibilities, and writing policies, procedures, and workflows related to the Disaster Recovery.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity processes and tools needed
  • A broad understanding of information technology in order to assist in preparation of recovery procedures for all areas
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of industry standard disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies as well as methods used in performing risk analyses and business impact analysis
  • Local and wide area networking concepts, principles and protocols
  • Knowledge in infrastructure design and management
  • Working knowledge of management processes such as personnel administration, planning and budgeting
  • Understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and processes
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification or equivalent practical experience (ITIL v3 Foundation strongly preferred as minimum; intermediate ITIL Service Transition, Service Design, ITIL Service & Support, ITIL Availability Management or ITIL Service Level Management desired)
  • Experience with Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and related initiatives
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model and IP subnetting
  • High level understanding of technology infrastructure, security concepts and platforms
  • Demonstrated success in project management
  • Understanding of routing and switching protocols as they relate to load balancing
  • Strong understanding of application layer protocols including HTTP, SSH, SSL, and DNS
  • Ability to skillfully react and adapt to a constantly changing business and IT work environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership abilities working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to interface with all levels within the business and IT organizations

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining an IT Disaster Recovery Program
  • Consulting on the development of a Disaster Recovery Plan and runbooks for stated scope business critical applications
  • Monitoring the deployment and changes of applications and infrastructure for impacts to Disaster Recovery-related contingency planning
  • Ensuring that Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are met in exercises
  • Guiding and providing work direction to IT subject matter experts as their roles pertain to Disaster Recovery
  • Participating in Disaster Recovery Exercises to ensure vendors can recover critical services provided to GMF
  • Participating in the ongoing review of Disaster Recovery scope services and support to align with budget planning
  • Assessing technical risk and providing timely mitigation and remediation plans
  • Evaluating new technology and tools and building business cases for their use
  • Participating in cross-functional reviews and identifying high-risk areas pertaining to Disaster Recovery scope
  • Understanding the integration of people, processes, and tools within the overall delivery environment, how they impact the Disaster Recovery Program, and determining the best strategic and tactical approach to continually improve those processes and services
  • Assessing the current state, where and to what extent Disaster Recovery work is being performed, and prioritizing required improvements and changes to the existing state
  • Coordinating with Business Continuity teams to ensure business expectations are met
  • Providing support for the approved Mass Notification system to IT stakeholders
  • Helping maintain the Knowledge Management System and Knowledge Document repository with relevant Disaster Recovery content to include: Enterprise Process Improvement, Policy and Procedure; Quality control and process compliance auditing; ITSM/ITIL Gap Analysis and CMMI-ITIL Maturity Assessments
  • Assisting with Availability Management, Business Continuity Management, and other collateral processes, ensuring that all ITSM process touch points and interfaces to Disaster Recovery are working effectively
  • Working effectively within an AI enabled environment: Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
