About The Position

As a Manager, Investment Structure Management, you will provide advanced investment structuring support to investment teams and ensure consistent and accurate management of the operating risks of CPP Investments’ group entities throughout the full investment life cycle, working with other partners in Legal, T&O and Risk. This role involves acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for both pre-closing/structuring and ongoing maintenance of investments, exits, and restructurings. You will coordinate the establishment of new legal entities, address legal and governance requirements, and provide advanced support for complex structuring activities. Post-closing, you will maintain the operational activities of wholly owned CPP Investments’ entities, ensuring compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements, and taking ownership of external and internal compliance deliverables. You will also prepare and maintain department policies and procedures, identify potential gaps or risks, and propose solutions. Building trusted relationships with investing departments and understanding different asset classes will be key to enabling the establishment of new or improved processes, which you will document and implement with internal and external partners to effectively manage and mitigate operational risk.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.
  • 6+ year of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to identify issues and determine course of action in situations with little or no precedent, analytical and holistic thinking is required.
  • Motivated to contribute to something larger than yourself, approach complex challenges with rigor, and hold yourself to high standards in a collaborative, performance-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., CFA) or progression toward one is an asset.
  • Experience working with low code / no code workflow tools (e.g., Mendix), knowledge of programming languages such as Python and using tools like Tableau is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a SME in supporting pre-closing/ structuring and ongoing maintenance of new investments, exits and restructurings.
  • Ensure adequate documentation is produced to support each key step of the transactional process.
  • Coordinate the establishment of new legal entities and address legal and governance requirements in support of investment structures in partnership with investment teams and core services teams.
  • Provide advanced support for increasingly complex structuring activities (e.g., maintaining minutes, tracking deal timelines, coordinating completion of activities amongst internal partners etc.).
  • Provide ongoing support to maintain and manage CPP Investments structures post-closing.
  • Maintain ongoing operational activities of wholly owned CPP Investments’ entities to ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Take ownership and be accountable for ensuring external and internal compliance deliverables are completed promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain department policies and procedures; identify potential gaps or risks in execution and propose effective solutions.
  • Build trusted relationships with investing departments and understand nuances between asset classes to enable establishment of new or improved processes.
  • Work with internal and external partners to document and implement such processes to effectively manage and mitigate operational risk between departments.
