About The Position

The Manager, Investment Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions that support the investment management team at TIAA Kaspick, a registered investment advisory firm managing assets in an OCIO capacity for over thirty-five years. The Manager monitors operational controls to mitigate risk, maintains documentation standards, supports internal audits and external exams, and conducts due diligence reviews of potential external asset managers. The role serves as a critical link between the investment management, trading, custody/operations, reporting, IT, compliance, and client-facing teams. The Manager, Investment Operations sits on the TIAA Kaspick Investment Committee, and works closely with the Chief Investment Officer, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and internal legal counsel to address potential investment operation issues. The Manager evaluates existing workflows and controls, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce risk, and improve scalability through technology, automation, and process redesign.

Requirements

  • 5+ years identifying and mitigating operational risks in an investment environment
  • Demonstrated success evaluating and building investment operation workflows and risk management tools
  • Experience participating in cross-functional projects involving development, testing, and implementation of investment operation processes
  • Experience leading internal and external audits
  • A high degree of attention to detail, sound judgment, a collaborative mindset, and ability to build strong relationships across functional areas

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at a registered investment adviser or asset management firm

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all investment operations activities
  • Partner with senior leadership to ensure the investment team is operating effectively with the appropriate procedures and policies
  • Evaluate risks to investment processes and identify and implement changes as needed
  • Represent the investment team in firm-wide planning projects, internal audits, and external exams
  • Perform due diligence of potential new fund managers and liaise with current fund managers and vendors on required data and reporting
