About The Position

The Inventory Manager leads inventory control operations, directs a team and owns inventory accuracy, aged inventory reduction, and inventory-related financial results. This role sets regional inventory processes and standards and partners with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, Customer Service, and Administration.

Requirements

  • Associates / 2 year Technical School
  • 4+ years of experience in inventory control or warehouse operations
  • Ability to lead, develop, and hold a team accountable for results
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional working relationships with builders, vendors, subordinates and co-workers
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Proactively identify, analyze, address, and resolve problem areas, conflicts, and issues
  • Displays willingness to make decisions
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment, supports and explains reasoning for decisions, includes appropriate people in decision-making process, and makes timely decisions
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure adequate tracking systems are utilized to maintain and track all required information associated with the ordering and production process
  • Working knowledge of internet, inventory, project management, spreadsheet and word process software and order processing systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead SAP training and competency standards for warehouse and inventory teams
  • Own aged inventory targets for branches and the region, and drive reduction plans with branch leadership
  • Oversee and approve returns to vendors and RTV purchase orders, up to established authority limit
  • Partner with Finance to resolve claim invoice, receiving, quantity, and cost discrepancies, and lead root-cause prevention.
  • Serve as the regional escalation point for warehouse and purchasing issues.
  • Maintain stock lists/settings.
  • Ensure cost accuracy and data integrity for material setup and system transfers.
  • Set aged-material liquidation strategy and pricing guidelines for branch-level sales.
  • Analyze regional inventory reports (aged inventory, cycle count progress, not-picked orders) and present findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with Purchasing to set and maintain Purchasing Cockpit data standards.
  • Establish, audit, and enforce warehouse and purchasing best-practice procedures.
  • Design and manage the regional cycle count program, including frequency and variance thresholds.
  • Lead resolution of system inventory discrepancies, directing team members on corrections.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve warehouse efficiency, accuracy, and cost.
