This net-new leadership role reflects our continued investment in innovation and technology, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape our research and development function, influence technical direction, and help drive the future of our IT solutions. Reporting to the Vice President, IT, the successful candidate will lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative technology solutions that support business objectives. Working closely with the IT team, developers, and business stakeholders, you'll evaluate emerging technologies, champion development best practices, and ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational needs. This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in Canada. The salary range for this position is $105,000–$125,000 CAD annually, based on experience. Little to no travel is required.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and significant software development experience.
8+ years of progressive experience in application development, software engineering, or R&D roles.
2+ years of leadership experience supervising application developers or analysts, with responsibility for the full application development lifecycle.
Strong expertise in software development, systems architecture, and application design, with experience in the Microsoft .NET ecosystem considered an asset.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges, serving as the technical escalation point for debugging, problem-solving, and solution design.
Solid knowledge of web and database technologies, including HTML, JavaScript, and SQL.
Strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather, document, and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance hands-on technical work, team leadership, and multiple competing priorities.
A collaborative leadership style with experience partnering across IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver high-quality solutions.
A passion for continuous learning, innovation, and exploring new technologies that drive business value.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative, secure, and scalable IT solutions that support business objectives.
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of application developers, including workload planning, performance management, coaching, and talent acquisition.
Champion software development best practices across the full application development lifecycle, including coding standards, testing, documentation, deployment, security, and quality.
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and design effective technical solutions.
Oversee application architecture, database design, and system integration to deliver high-quality business applications.
Drive collaboration across IT teams, business units, and external vendors to ensure successful solution delivery and ongoing application support.
Research, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance business performance and innovation.
Develop proof-of-concept solutions and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies across the organization.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture by resolving challenges, sharing knowledge, and promoting continuous learning.
Communicate project status, technical recommendations, and strategic initiatives to IT leadership and business stakeholders.
