About The Position

The Manager of Infection Control will have the authority and 24-hour responsibility for ensuring strategies are implemented to prevent avoidable healthcare-associated infections. This role involves maintaining compliance with national standards and regulatory agencies, including TJC, OSHA, CMS, CDC/NHSN, California statutes, and other nationally organized recommendations and requirements. The position is responsible for the coordination and management of activities and resources for infection prevention and control. The Manager is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and oversees the department's functions related to surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections. Key responsibilities include educating employees about infection control prevention and developing health system policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing, B.S. Medical Technology, B.S. Biology-Medical Technology, Master's in Public Health, or Doctor of Medicine required.
  • Minimum 3 years Manager level experience in Infection Control required.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, electronic medical records and infection control databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Masters in Public Health preferred.
  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
  • Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) issued by California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
  • Medical Doctor (MD) license issued by the Medical Board of California (MBC).
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) issued by the State of California.
