About The Position

The State and Local Tax team helps businesses navigate state and local taxation through technical expertise and client-focused support across income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, unclaimed property, and credits and incentives. The team aims to help clients minimize risk, enhance compliance, and identify tax-saving opportunities. The Manager, Income Franchise Tax evaluates filing methodologies across state jurisdictions, reviews apportionment data, leads client engagements, researches state tax issues, supports audits, and guides clients through income tax compliance. The role also provides leadership through mentoring teams and developing junior staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
At least 4.5 years of relevant tax experience.
At least 3 years of income tax experience.
Proficiency with OneSource income tax preparation software and OneSource tax provision software.
Current and valid CPA, EA, or CMI – State Income Tax (IPT) certification, or a JD or LLM.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field.
Familiarity with ASC 740 and state income tax provision review.
Strong understanding of recent state tax legislative developments and their business impacts.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and recommend optimal filing methodologies across state jurisdictions.
Review and analyze apportionment data to ensure accurate tax positioning.
Lead client engagements, coordinate team deliverables, and ensure timely execution.
Research evolving state tax issues and draft technical memorandums for internal and client use.
Provide audit defense and support for state income and franchise tax matters.
Guide clients through income tax compliance processes, from data gathering to filing.
Mentor teams and develop junior staff.
