About The Position

The Manager in Training (MIT) program at City National Bank and Trust is designed to develop individuals into Branch Managers. The MIT role typically lasts no more than 6 months, with training periods ranging from 30-60 days for internal promotions and 60-90 days for external hires. Following the training, there is an expectations period. MITs are expected to learn and achieve the same standards and responsibilities as a Branch Manager. The Branch Manager is accountable for the growth and success of the branch's business and staff, acting as a sales manager, coach, team leader, and bank officer. They lead by example, balancing sales and operations, and serving as a communication link between the branch and other bank departments. Key focuses include sales management, coaching, operational oversight, and effective communication with superiors. The Manager sets the standard for customer experience and follow-up, ensuring customer expectations are not only met but exceeded.

Requirements

  • 4 years of Management experience
  • 2 years of goal-oriented sales experience
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to talk, see, or hear
  • Ability to lift/carry no more than 20lbs
  • Ability to stand the majority of the assigned work schedule
  • Clear verbal communication
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • Banking or sales management experience is a plus
  • Military and/or a college degree
  • Previous cash handling experience

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate performance as a sales and service leader with in-depth knowledge of retail services, products, and selling techniques.
  • Establish rapport with employees, customers, and prospects.
  • Possess knowledge of competitor bank products and services.
  • Initiate and conduct sales conversations with prospects in various settings (in-store, branch, market area).
  • Manage staff and foster camaraderie to achieve branch and individual sales goals.
  • Communicate performance expectations to staff and monitor their performance.
  • Coach, lead, and encourage employees in achieving individual and branch goals.
  • Supervise and participate in the 2-2-2 call initiative.
  • Cultivate relationships with in-store management and employees to generate customer referrals.
  • Utilize banking resources and train staff on problem resolution.
  • Implement all marketing promotions and campaigns.
  • Oversee and manage computer applications including Helpdesks, CETO, Synapsys, EZ Labor, and others as required.
  • Prioritize customer demands to ensure maximum service levels.
  • Possess knowledge of and train on bank policies and procedures, and enforce adherence.
  • Supervise training opportunities for employees in sales, operations, and product knowledge.
  • Ensure operational accuracy and accountability among staff.
  • Complete quarterly and monthly branch audits.
  • Administer security procedures.
  • Monitor weekly time cards and attendance.
  • Manage items on branch income statements.
  • Provide facilities management and monitor branch upkeep and appearance.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development for staff, including corrective actions.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and upper management.
  • Conduct formal coaching sessions monthly for all branch employees.
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring process for branch employees.
  • Address customer complaints and ensure timely customer satisfaction.
  • Handle pressure with confidence and poise, remaining calm in volatile situations.
  • Treat others respectfully and represent City National Bank professionally.
