Austin Facilities Management (AFM) is seeking an Inventory Control Manager I to plan, direct, and manage the department's materials and inventory operations, including surplus inventory, uniform inventory and procurement, fleet inventory coordination, and citywide mail room services that receive and deliver mail for the entire City of Austin government. This position supervises a team of 4-6 staff members, including mail room personnel, and is responsible for developing strategies that optimize inventory levels, manage vendor and contract relationships, and ensure efficient service delivery to every City department and employee who relies on AFM's support functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong inventory management expertise, budget and contract oversight experience, and proven supervisory skills to lead a multi-functional team through competing priorities and daily operational demands. In this role, you will lead the implementation of 5S methodology to improve workspace organization across AFM facilities, manage a $100,000+ operational budget, oversee uniform procurement contracts, and develop the systems and processes that keep materials moving efficiently across the City.
