About The Position

Performs varied inventory control for active and surplus parts and assets, as well as the clerical administration for work involving the independent operation of small warehouse units while assisting in the overall operation of the main FMC Warehouse. Responsible for ordering receiving, storing, recording, and consulting on a wide variety of supplies and equipment. Position maintains and provides a computerized inventory system accounting for inventoried items and determines reordering indicators. May be required to assist with bid specifications and vendor solicitation, as well as analyzing bids and recommendations for bid awards. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to attain forklift certification within first six (6) months of employment.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and a safe driving record such as required to attain Driver’s Authorization through the university.
  • Must submit and pass all required DOT pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol screens.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
  • All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure.
  • Ability to coordinate work with other employees, providing direct instruction or supervision as assigned.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Must have the necessary mathematical abilities to analyze and process resource allocation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and maintains inventory and pricing data.
  • Handles special orders, correcting errors, tracking items.
  • Assists the trades and customers in locating or selecting merchandise.
  • Receives, unpacks, and stores goods and supplies through central receiving.
  • Checks incoming shipments/material against invoices or purchase orders for quantity and conditions.
  • Determines reordering indicators and prepares requisition to replace supplies used or sold.
  • Stocks supplies, equipment, and materials and maintains records of all items issued, dispensed, donated, or sold.
  • Seeks prices for non-stock products for university customers.
  • Recognizes and resolves quantity discrepancies and generates quantity reports as needed.
  • Assists with training new staff members as necessary.
  • Operates forklift for delivery and movement of materials for various departments and provides preventive maintenance for daily use.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on forklift operations and safety.
  • Utilizes TMA system to input purchase order information and to maintain current pricing and inventory for reporting.
  • Maintains surplus inventory, overseeing final disposition (reuse, donation, sale, or recycle). Provides disposition information to Supervisor, Warehouse Services and Property Management.
  • Observes work and safety rules.
  • Inventories supplies and equipment as required.
  • Corresponds with vendors regarding incorrect shipments or delays.
  • Assists with central receiving, package tracking, and moves.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
