Manager, HR Benefits

T1 EnergyAustin, TX

About The Position

T1 Energy is looking to hire a Manager, HR Benefits to own the full benefits function for a fast-growing manufacturing company. This is not a hand-it-off-to-a-broker role. This is a hands-on, operational position for someone who knows benefits administration from the inside out: plan setup, carrier feeds, billing reconciliation, open enrollment, compliance, and everything in between. You'll be the system of truth for benefits at T1. That means the data is right, the feeds are running, the invoices match, and employees get answers, not runarounds. If you've built or run a benefits operation in a high-growth environment, thrive on process and precision, and take genuine pride in a clean reconciliation and a well-run open enrollment, this role was made for you.

Requirements

  • Operationally sharp and detail-obsessed, you know that a single enrollment error or missed carrier feed can turn into a real problem for a real person, and you build systems that prevent that.
  • Deeply familiar with UKG Pro and how benefits administration works inside an HRIS, not just around it.
  • Comfortable owning the full benefits function independently, you don't need a team of specialists to hand things off to; you are the specialist.
  • Calm and precise under the pressure of open enrollment, billing deadlines, and executive plan coordination all happening at once.
  • A strong communicator who can explain benefits clearly to employees, escalate issues effectively with carriers, and keep internal stakeholders informed without overcomplicating it.
  • Process-minded and documentation-driven, you believe that if it isn't written down, it isn't sustainable.
  • 5+ years of benefits administration experience, with demonstrated ownership of the full benefits function in a mid-size or growing company.
  • Hands-on experience administering benefits in UKG Pro is required.
  • Deep working knowledge of medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, COBRA, life/AD&D, disability, 401k, and supplemental plan administration.
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting carrier EDI feeds, including reading and working 999/TA1 acknowledgments.
  • Proven experience with self-bill reconciliation and carrier invoice management.
  • Solid understanding of benefits compliance requirements including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
  • Strong documentation skills; you write SOPs that other people can actually follow.
  • High attention to detail and a track record of keeping enrollment data clean and audit-ready.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all benefit plans: medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, COBRA, life/AD&D, disability, supplemental, 401k, and executive plans, and manage enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life event changes in UKG Pro.
  • Maintain accurate eligibility and coverage records as the authoritative system of truth, and reconcile enrollment data against carrier records on a regular cadence.
  • Monitor that scheduled carrier feeds transmit successfully, read and work carrier acknowledgments (999/TA1), and catch discrepancies before they become coverage problems.
  • Reconcile self-bill lines against carrier invoices, verify enrolled headcount matches what's billed, and research and resolve billing variances with precision and urgency.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with carriers and vendors, coordinate issue resolution, and keep policy numbers, contacts, and plan details current at all times.
  • Field employee benefits questions, own the escalation path when coverage doesn't match enrollment, and coordinate corrections with carriers on the employee's behalf — making sure people get the coverage they're entitled to without having to fight for it.
  • Plan and execute open enrollment each plan year, including plan setup, employee communications, and post-enrollment validation to ensure a clean, accurate result.
  • Maintain SOPs, process documentation, and current plan documents so operations don't live in one person's head and changes are clearly communicated to stakeholders.
  • Own the benefits tracker and status documentation, run a regular review cadence on open items, and track plans outside automated scope separately to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
