Manager, Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance

GoBoltMarkham, ON
$95,000 - $125,000Onsite

About The Position

GoBolt runs fulfillment, warehousing, and last-mile operations across Canada and the United States. We're looking for a Manager, Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance (HSQC) to own the program end-to-end across our North American network —setting the standard for how we protect our people, deliver consistent quality, and meet every regulatory obligation in every jurisdiction where we operate. You'll be the single point of accountability for HSQC across both countries: building programs that scale, making safe behavior the default, and keeping us ahead of a regulatory landscape that looks very different on each side of the border.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years in H&S, quality, or compliance — ideally in warehouse, logistics, 3PL, fulfillment, or supply chain environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of the regulatory landscape in both countries: US federal OSHA and at least one state-plan state; Canadian federal OHS and at least one of Ontario (OHSA), BC, Alberta, or Quebec.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS/HazCom, TDG/HMR, WSIB and other provincial workers' comp boards, US state workers' comp processes, and modified/return-to-work programs.
  • Experience building or overhauling safety programs from the ground up, ideally across multiple sites or jurisdictions.
  • Comfort being present on the warehouse floor — you lead from where the work happens, across locations.
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven mindset with the judgment to move fast when something isn't right.
  • Strong communicator who can simplify complex regulatory requirements for frontline teams and translate them into training that actually sticks.

Nice To Haves

  • CRSP or CHSC (Canada), and/or CSP, ASP, or OHST (US). Holding one and pursuing the other is a strong plus.
  • Experience managing quality systems such as ISO 9001, HACCP, SQF, or BRCGS
  • Prior responsibility for cross-border or multi-state incident reporting and workers' comp claims management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with US federal OSHA (29 CFR 1910 / 1904 recordkeeping) and state-plan OSHA jurisdictions wherever GoBolt operates.
  • Maintain compliance with the Canada Labour Code Part II / COHSR for federally regulated activity, and with provincial OH&S statutes — Ontario OHSA, BC WSA, Alberta OHS, Quebec LSST/CNESST, and others as we expand.
  • Own hazard communication end-to-end: WHMIS 2015 (Canada) and OSHA HazCom/GHS (US) SDS management, labelling, and training.
  • Ensure dangerous-goods handling and documentation compliance under TDG (Canada) and 49 CFR / HMR (US), including cross-border shipments.
  • Manage relationships with regulators and insurers — OSHA, provincial Ministries of Labour, WorkSafeBC, CNESST, WSIB and other provincial workers' comp boards, US state workers' comp agencies — and own timely incident, injury, and posting-compliance filings in each jurisdiction.
  • Keep statutory postings, policy statements, and committee structures current (e.g., Joint Health & Safety Committees in Canada; OSHA required postings in the US).
  • Lead all H&S programs at our warehouses — daily inspections, job hazard analyses, ergonomic assessments, PPE, lockout/tagout, fall protection, MHE/powered industrial truck programs, emergency response, and contractor safety.
  • Develop and enforce safety policies, SOPs, and training for both employees and contractors — new-hire onboarding, annual refreshers, and role-specific certifications (forklift, first aid/CPR).
  • Drive a strong safety culture — near-miss reporting, behaviour-based safety, toolbox talks, and visible leadership on the floor.
  • Own quality assurance processes and ensure warehouse operations meet internal standards and external customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and evolve the quality management system using ISO 9001 principles; layer in HACCP, SQF, or GFSI recognized schemes where food is handled, and GDP (Good Distribution Practice) disciplines for temperature-controlled, time-sensitive, or high-value goods.
  • Coordinate with Operations on FDA and Health Canada requirements for any regulated consumer goods in our flow.
  • Monitor and report H&S and quality KPIs — TRIR, LTIR, DART, near-miss rate, first-pass quality, NCR closure — and translate trends into action quickly.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action plans; close the loop with training, engineering, or process changes.
  • Run regular internal audits across sites and prepare the network for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to integrate safety and quality into everyday workflows, facility layout decisions, and new-site launches.
  • Harmonize standards across the network where it makes sense, and localize where jurisdictional requirements demand it.
