About The Position

Join our team as a Quality & Compliance Manager! Industry: mechanical, commercial equipment manufacturing, engineered-to-order. At Air Wise, we design and manufacture custom air handling units used across North America. As we grow, we’re strengthening our quality assurance and compliance team. We’re looking for someone who wants to build real, hands-on experience in this space. You’ll also act as the point of contact for external regulators. What You’ll Be Doing The Quality and Compliance Manager ensures that all heating equipment products, manufacturing processes, and business operations comply with applicable regulatory, safety, environmental, and industry standards. This includes managing certifications, audits, risk assessments, and continuous compliance improvements across the organization. Additionally, the role supports national construction activities for oversight of quality and compliance. This is a high-visibility role where you’ll partner with administrative, production, management and shareholder teams to make a tangible difference to the business every day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in product engineering, quality, or compliance within HVAC or a related manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with product certification and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CSA, ETL).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with testing standards, validation methods, and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with quality tools (ISO, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret applicable regulations and standards (e.g., gas, bpv, o/e, safety).
  • Ensure compliance with regional and international standards (e.g., CSA, UL, CE, ISO).
  • Maintain up-to-date compliance documentation and regulatory registers.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and certification bodies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on product design and manufacturing.
  • Oversee product testing and certification processes.
  • Coordinate and manage third-party certification processes and regulatory approvals.
  • Ensure all products meet safety and performance standards before market release.
  • Facilitate conformance assessments to verify products meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage certification renewals and updates for existing / new products.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams during product design to ensure compliance (design-for-compliance).
  • Support implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for product quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and reduce defects.
  • Develop quality control plans and inspection criteria for manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement compliance audit programs.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments across all Modern operations.
  • Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Report compliance risks and mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and SOPs as needed.
  • Ensure policies align with legal requirements and industry’s best practices.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct across departments.
  • Design and deliver quality compliance training programs for employees.
  • Educate teams on regulatory changes and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure key staff are certified where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, certifications, and audits.
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulators.
  • Support product labeling, manuals, and technical documentation compliance.
  • Work closely with Engineering, QA, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Ensure supplier and vendor compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support new product development (NPD) with compliance input.
  • Investigate quality and/or compliance-related incidents, complaints, or product failures.
  • Coordinate recalls or corrective actions if required.
  • Ensure timely reporting to regulatory authorities when necessary.
