About The Position

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario Division is seeking a Manager, Health Data and Analytics to support the organization in strengthening data quality within the community mental health and addiction sector. This role will improve the use and understanding of performance indicators and data, enabling CMHA Ontario and its branches to collect and utilize data more effectively for quality improvement, performance management, and strategic planning. The goal is to establish the CMHA network as a leader in measurement within the community mental health and addiction sector.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in public health, epidemiology, health economics, health administration, health analytics or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in healthcare (data analysis, performance measurement, data management, planning) is required.
  • Familiarity with provincial directions in health care reform, data and digital initiatives and quality improvement in Ontario is required.
  • Statistical Analysis and Microsoft Office software and applications, Word, Access, PowerPoint and advanced Excel skills.
  • G license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data visualization software such as Power BI is an asset.
  • Familiarity with key concepts of mental health and addiction as well as social determinants of health is preferred.
  • Experience working in multi-sectoral partnerships, liaising with non-governmental organizations and government agencies, and knowledge of the public policy environment in Ontario is an asset.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support performance measurement and data quality measures to enable capture of relevant and meaningful information for the assessment of quality for the community mental health and addiction sector.
  • Develop and refine knowledge and expertise related to health care data at the system and provider levels for the community mental health and addiction sector in Ontario.
  • Participate in the review, prioritization and development of indicators for the community mental health and addiction sector.
  • Oversee and deliver support to CMHA branches to improve data quality and advance data culture.
  • Prepare standardized reports for CMHA branches and CMHA Ontario that advance our understanding of services delivered, populations served and system performance.
  • Respond to CMHA branch requests for support with data and measurement and provide customized supports based on the needs of CMHA branches.
  • Identify and advance opportunities for common measurement including the use of common indicators and the adoption of standardized tools.
  • Support analyses for research projects as required.
  • Support the CMHA Ontario policy and communications teams in their data needs and in interpretation of performance information.
  • Maintain documentation on work planning, status updates, decisions, actions and risks.
  • Engage with the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence and other relevant Ontario Health and Ministry departments to support advancement of performance, accountability and quality measurement and other data initiatives to advance data culture and the use of data in the MHA sector.
  • Oversee completion of deliverables and risk management/mitigation activities.
  • Prepare materials for reporting to leadership, the CMHA Ontario branch network and other stakeholders.
  • Manage budget and expense tracking. Ensure the program meets funding and reporting requirements as needed.
  • Attend team meetings; identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships.
  • Assist with the creation of communication materials that include statistics and performance information.
  • Contribute to the development of funding requests for capital and base funding related to data and reporting infrastructure.
  • Supervise and mentor staff within the department on data, analytics and measurement.
  • Provide coaching and performance management in relevant areas, supporting team members’ success and continuous development.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement and development within the team.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, and talent management of employees, helping to manage vacancies and new positions.
