About The Position

The United Nations Foundation's global health advocacy team champions American investments in global health. The team has three core brands: Shot@Life (advocating for global immunization programs), United to Beat Malaria (advocating for global malaria elimination), and HealthForUS (advocating for American engagement and investment in global health). The Grassroots Advocacy Manager will lead grassroots engagement for these global health campaigns, focusing on champion recruitment, training, cultivation, partnership management, and coordination of advocacy efforts. This role supports wider global health advocacy priorities, including grassroots and direct advocacy efforts across all three brands, in close collaboration with the Global Health Advocacy team and the Director of Grassroots Advocacy. This position is based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Five years of relevant experience with a track record of success in volunteer and partnership management, grassroots advocacy and mobilization for an issue-driven initiative.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally across in-person, virtual, and written settings.
  • Experience drafting clear, audience-appropriate written materials in support of advocacy or engagement efforts.
  • Experience engaging and building relationships with diverse constituencies, including community-based groups, students, families, faith-based organizations, or other advocacy audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a nonpartisan environment and build productive relationships across diverse political perspectives.
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and strong project ownership, with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and support event execution.
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the UN Foundation’s mission and global health advocacy priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams, functions, and external partner organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability and consistent attendance in accordance with organizational expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience engaging with congressional offices or government stakeholders preferred.
  • Experience with Asana, EveryAction and Salesforce databases are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Grassroots Advocacy Director and the Advocacy team with identifying Congressional targets, setting annual advocacy goals, and implementing strategies to engage grassroots champions.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of grassroots advocacy strategies, monitoring progress against goals, metrics, and results frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate advocacy action data and ensure the integrity of the advocacy reporting database.
  • Analyze results to identify trends and inform adjustments to grassroots engagement strategies.
  • Execute grassroots advocacy education and mobilization activities, including the annual in-person Summit, virtual trainings, and in-district meetings and events.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and manage grassroots advocacy Champions.
  • Coordinate and support in-district advocacy trainings and congressional meetings.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for grassroots supporters across Shot@Life, United to Beat Malaria, and Health for US.
  • Manage logistics and execution for the annual joint Summit and Hill Day, including agenda development, session planning, speaker coordination, and staff role assignments.
  • Oversee event operations for virtual and in-person needs, including vendor coordination, venue or production support, and champion accommodations.
  • Partner with the Communications team to develop and execute promotional plans, digital content, and program assets for the Summit.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Global Health grassroots champions and staff, supporting session preparation and champion readiness.
  • Manage logistics and agenda development for regional trainings and events.
  • Partner with the Direct Advocacy and Global Health Communications teams to support in-district events.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for advocacy champions supporting campaign fundraising efforts.
  • Support outreach to prospective advocacy and grassroots partners, focusing on expanding champion-building efforts.
  • Manage ongoing communication and support for grassroots partners, including development of campaign materials and event collateral.
  • Maintain working knowledge of UNF’s agreement processes, including the appropriate use of contract and grant templates, and stay current on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Draft, review, process, and track agreements in Salesforce, maintain familiarity with key terms and flow-down requirements, and prepare related reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
