About The Position

The Director, Global Patient Advocacy reports to the Senior Director, Global Patient Advocacy Lead and is part of the Medical Affairs Team. This individual will lead the company’s efforts in building trusted, long-term relationships with patient organizations and communities, with a primary focus on ATTR Amyloidosis through two-way communication and collaboration to advance shared priorities. This role will have an externally facing component, including engagement with patients, advocacy organizations and other key stakeholders, and will be expected to work collaboratively across the organization as a be a critical member of internal cross-functional teams. The Director, Global Patient Advocacy will provide strategic leadership, and operational oversight, ensuring the patient voice is integrated into all areas of the organization.

Requirements

  • Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and the desire to work on a cross-functional team.
  • Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with experience translating scientific information to plain language
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with advocacy groups, patient leaders, and caregivers
  • Strong budget management and ability to direct and manage vendors to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical clinical development and product life-cycle management
  • Consistently represents the company with the utmost level of professionalism with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An undergraduate degree is required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical environment with at least 4 years of relevant experience in rare disease and patient advocacy
  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing teams, with demonstrated success in building high-performing functions.
  • In-depth understanding of the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry is required.
  • Solid understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA)
  • Willingness to travel (role anticipated to have about ~25% travel component)
  • Ability to sit or stand for multiple hours at a computer
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding; may include repetitive movements

Nice To Haves

  • a graduate degree in a relevant area such as nursing, pharmacy, genetic counseling, social work, public policy, or public health is preferred.
  • experience in Amyloidosis highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a coordinated global patient advocacy strategy for ATTR amyloidosis, aligning with corporate goals and priorities based on deep understanding of the patient/caregiver experience and unmet needs
  • Serve as an organizational expert on patient advocacy, providing insights, best practices, and guidance across teams within the strategic therapeutic area of responsibility
  • Contribute to a high-performing Patient Advocacy team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered thinking
  • Cultivate enduring relationships with leading patient organizations to advance Intellia program objectives
  • Drive an innovative, cross-functional approach to community partnerships aligned with Intellia program-related priorities
  • Collaborate with patient community to generate patient-experience data that shapes clinical practice and advances access
  • Ensure patient/caregiver insights and implications for Intellia programs are systematically actioned across Medical Affairs and with cross-functional partners
  • Advance Intellia program-related priorities through compliant sponsorships, educational grants, and execution of program benefits
  • Be responsible for the annual budget related to program patient advocacy initiatives
  • Adhere to relevant internal policies and industry regulations
  • Partner with patient organizations to educate and mobilize patients to seek optimal care and elevate the voice of the patient to inform decisionmakers in the patient treatment journey, including HCPs, policymakers and payers
