About The Position

CHANEL is seeking a highly collaborative Graphic Designer to join our Artistic Direction team in New York City. This individual is responsible for playing a leading role to contribute to the growth of the U.S. business through cohesive and meaningful design. Reporting to the Senior Group Director Graphic Design, you will lead and execute projects for both global adaptation campaigns and U.S. initiatives. This role is responsible for end-to-end execution of campaigns, ensuring precise artwork creation and delivery of assets across multiple divisions of the House. This role interfaces with U.S. Artistic Direction, Marketing, PR, Development and Procurement, and global Artistic Direction teams. This individual is a key partner for the continued success of CHANEL’s legacy in all categories. Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of luxury experience and a passion for design with a meticulous eye for detail, storytelling, typography, branding and imagery as it relates to multiple mediums and visual concepts.

Requirements

  • Expert in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • An appreciation and passion for design with a meticulous eye for detail, storytelling, typography, branding and imagery as it relates to multiple mediums and visual concepts
  • Self-motivated and able to stay organized with changing workloads and assignments with an ability to prioritize work and resources across projects, from small creative tasks to larger deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present creative and strategic ideas effectively to the Artistic Direction team and cross-divisionally
  • Naturally collaborative attitude with an enthusiastic approach and interest in learning
  • Ability to execute on creative direction from leadership while bringing new ideas to the team
  • Multi-format adaptation: ability to adapt visuals for point-of-sale, print media and out-of-home media
  • Skill and creativity to create high-qualitative graphic design assets for local initiatives
  • Exceptionally skilled in hand comping using various materials
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Graphic Design or similar field of study
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in within an in-house creative team or creative agency
  • Minimum travel required for press runs or onsite visits for production

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Figma, After Effects and SketchUp is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adapting and executing graphic design collaterals for global campaigns while balancing and considering the unique POV and goals of the U.S. market
  • Create final artwork mechanicals, facilitate specs to production partners and follow the process to completion, including approving color proofs and attending press runs and site visits as needed
  • Adapt global designs and create local print collateral, including brochures, sampling kits, scented materials, invitations, out-of-home media and transparencies
  • Contribute to the brand purpose by ideating and collaborating creative concepts for Arts & Culture initiatives for the U.S. market
  • Provide creative solutions and support with an understanding of key business and strategic objectives for PR eventing and marketing initiatives
  • Build strong working relationships and instill trust within the Artistic Direction team, cross-divisionally and globally, along with external vendors and agencies
  • Champion creative excellence that inspires daily actionable tasks and decisions as it pertains to graphic design and visual direction of the House
  • Design and construct high quality hand comped samples for proof of concept and validation using various materials
