About The Position

A leading U.S. airline's Global Communications team is seeking an experienced, strategic communicator to support its Technical Operations (TechOps) communications function. You will be responsible for delivering compelling communications plans that promote business initiatives and engage a workforce of approximately 13,000 maintenance technicians, inspectors, engineers, and other aviation maintenance professionals. This is a strategic role — not just execution-focused. The ideal candidate brings business maturity, executive presence, and the ability to set their own workstreams and operate with a high degree of autonomy across two functions (reporting into communications leadership while navigating the TechOps organization).

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of corporate communications or agency experience, including senior executive support
  • Excellent writing skills — able to synthesize complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen; someone who can own the work, not just execute tasks
  • Executive presence and maturity; comfortable interfacing with senior leaders and managing up
  • Media relations experience: working with journalists, prepping spokespeople, supporting media strategy
  • Experience with both internal employee communications and external/media-facing communications
  • Proven event planning experience (town halls, conferences, large-scale employee events)
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Atlanta-based; able to work on-site across two campuses; some international travel required (passport ideal)

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce experience (building emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar) — a strong plus
  • Curiosity about aviation, technical operations, or industrial workforce communications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic communications counsel for senior leaders, positioning them as thought leaders and advocates for their teams
  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal and external communications plans that inform, inspire, and engage frontline and corporate audiences
  • Manage internal communications for a large frontline workforce (~13,000 employees), including email campaigns built in Salesforce
  • Support media relations efforts, including working with journalists, preparing spokespeople, and contributing to media engagement strategies
  • Partner with subject matter experts across the organization to support day-to-day communications and project needs
  • Plan and execute corporate and divisional events, including town halls, industry conferences, and large-scale employee events
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across communications, TechOps, and other divisions
  • Navigate complex, fast-moving, and occasionally sensitive communications challenges with professionalism and sound judgment
