About The Position

Brightwell is a payments company focused on making money movement faster, safer, and more accessible globally. They provide a full-stack experience for banks and credit unions, including mobile interfaces and backend infrastructure for payment routing, partner integrations, and real-time compliance and fraud detection. The company has a 65-person team based in Atlanta and is experiencing rapid growth. They are seeking bold thinkers to join their mission. This role is for a Manager of Fraud & Risk Management who will be responsible for fraud and risk monitoring, mitigation policy, and data-driven fraud oversight for ReadyRemit and Latitude. This position works alongside the BSA/AML Analyst role, focusing on the fraud and risk aspects, including monitoring, policy, data, and investigation oversight, complementing the BSA/AML program administration and compliance work.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in fraud/risk management within payments, fintech, or financial services.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of fraud typologies (account takeover, authorized push payment/social engineering, velocity abuse, first-party misuse) and their mitigation controls.
  • Experience with real-time fraud scoring/decisioning platforms (Sardine or similar), including using and tuning them.
  • Strong data fluency: comfortable building fraud-rate and KPI reporting directly from transaction/case data.
  • Experience as a bank-facing or client-facing fraud liaison, presenting findings and policy to sponsor banks or enterprise clients.
  • Clear writer and communicator: able to translate fraud analysis into sales-safe, board-safe, and audit-safe language for various audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Cross-border remittance or card-network experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, tune, and continuously improve fraud/risk monitoring and mitigation policies across ReadyRemit and Latitude to detect account takeover, scams/APP fraud, velocity abuse, and first-party misuse, both pre- and post-transaction.
  • Analyze fraud data and generate reporting on fraud-rate trends and KPIs (detection rate, false-positive rate, time-to-detection) by turning transaction, dispute, and case data into actionable insights.
  • Serve as the internal expert on fraud numbers and definitions.
  • Utilize Sardine for fraud decisioning, integrate its signal output into fraud/risk decisioning, tune rule sensitivity for fraud outcomes, and translate this data into policy and client-facing reports.
  • Oversee Tier 2 fraud investigations, managing PayMitto's role in the three-party fraud responsibility model (Sponsor Bank, Client FI, PayMitto), including transaction tracing, cross-network pattern analysis, containment actions, and UAR preparation for Sponsor Bank SAR determinations.
  • Represent PayMitto's fraud posture in Sponsor Bank reviews and client (FI) fraud conversations, both directly and on behalf of clients where PayMitto acts as the Tier 2 investigative partner.
  • Manage vendors for fraud-specific tooling, including Sardine usage/tuning and any future real-time scoring or decisioning vendors.
  • Coordinate handoffs with the BSA/AML Analyst to ensure seamless monitoring between fraud and AML/sanctions.
  • Evaluate and help scale AI/ML-enabled fraud detection tools to enhance accuracy and reduce manual review workload.
