About The Position

The Manager, Food & Nutrition Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple Food and Nutrition Services pantry locations within a designated region of Vivent Health’s network of integrated health centers. This position provides direct supervision to supervisors, coordinators, and food pantry assistants and ensures consistent, compliant, and high-quality service delivery across all assigned pantry locations. The Manager, Food & Nutrition Services implements department strategy, ensures operational excellence, and supports professional staff development. Food and Nutrition Services are a vital part of the Vivent Health Center, providing clients and patients with nutritious food that benefits their overall health, aids financial stability, and sustains connection to care. The Manager, Food & Nutrition Services reports to the Director, Food & Nutrition Services and serves as the primary operational leader for pantry services across multiple states.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of related experience required.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in food services, food pantry operations, or community-based program operations.
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience overseeing paid staff required.
  • Experience with budget monitoring and operational reporting.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience leading and developing people; fostering a collaborative, mission‑driven team environment that supports high‑quality care and community impact.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Windows.
  • Experience working with databases and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population and/or eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility in response to change, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in multi-site or multi-program coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for Food and Nutrition Services Supervisors, Coordinators, and Assistants, dependent on staffing model, across multiple pantry locations.
  • In conjunction with site staff and Volunteer Coordinator, train and oversee volunteers to ensure and maintain the smooth, effective and efficient functioning of pantry locations.
  • Oversee and monitor daily food acquisition, storage, inventory management, distribution processes, home delivery services, and data collection systems to ensure consistency and compliance with Vivent Health standards and funder requirements.
  • Ensure safe and sanitary operations across all pantry locations, including compliance with food safety regulations, proper equipment use, safe product storage, and ServSafe certification coverage requirements. Maintains records of safety and compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular operational audits (virtual and on-site as needed) to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards in collaboration with Director.
  • Review and monitor site-level budgets in collaboration with the Director and Site Supervisors to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining high nutritional standards.
  • Lead ongoing department meetings to promote communication, alignment, accountability, and sharing of best practices across sites.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of Supervisors, Coordinators, and Assistants in collaboration with Human Resources and the Director, which may include travel to pantry locations as needed.
  • Prepare and compile operational reports including utilization data, service metrics, inventory trends, volunteer engagement, and compliance documentation for review by the Director.
  • Implement department initiatives, quality improvement plans, and operational changes as directed by the Director.
  • Collaborate with Site Leaders, Social Services leaders, clinical teams including dietitians, and Quality Management to ensure Food and Nutrition Services remain integrated within the broader health center model.
  • Supports and participates in direct service delivery, stepping in as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations during staff absences, vacancies, or peak service periods.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, including but not limited to Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, training, and other relevant policies.
