About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector is seeking an experienced technical professional to lead & manage E-2 aircraft flight and maintenance operations at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The Flight Operations Manager will be responsible for the (personnel management) daily planning, scheduling, operations & direction of NG employees assigned to the location. The right candidate will actively assist or provide direction to maintenance teams in support of ground/flight test operations. Responsible for accurate and effective reporting aircraft status. Ensures maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. Follows & assists in any ground operating procedures audits, inspections, and/or compliance reviews IAW DCMA 8210 series. Provides feedback to leadership during daily maintenance pass downs, shift turnover or meetings. Supports the aircraft operations manager through execution of schedule and technical performance of the Triton maintenance & ground operations. Will participate in schedule and technical discussions/meetings. Oversees maintenance, servicing, repair, and overhaul of air vehicles. Must become an expert in all associated subsystems to ensure that they are in good mechanical condition and maintain airworthiness/safety. Will interface regularly with all competencies within the ITT. Works towards milestones and monitors adherence to integrated master schedules (IMS) as it pertains to program & customer schedules, aircraft deliveries, & flight/ground operations. Identifies problems and recommends solutions, such as allocation of resources and/or modification of contractual specifications. Assists with audits, program inspections, and suggests appropriate corrective actions/adjustments to maintain contract compliance/performance. Direct assignment and functional management of employees to include schedules, training, and provide overall feedback via annual/quarterly performance ratings & reviews. Will recommend procedure changes to improve maintainability of aircraft and timely inspections. Available to work First or Second shift and weekends as needed in support of flight/ground test operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of related experience or a Masters degree and 3 years of related experience or a High School diploma and 9 years of related professional experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance upon start.
  • Strong communication skills/delivery methods, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams.
  • Comfortable/confident working in a flightline operations environment.
  • Willingness and Ability to obtain TS/SCI post start as required.
  • Technical E-2 Aircraft experience (Or similar).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing an aircraft maintenance department.
  • US Navy aircraft maintenance management experience.
  • Understanding of E-2 Aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, ground handling, launch/recovery, Safe for Flight requirements.
  • Working knowledge of NAVY/NAVAIR/NAMP/OPNAVINST 4790.2, OOMA, DCMA 8210 series.
  • Current TS clearance.
  • Prior Safe for Flight certified in a Navy maintenance environment.
