Requirements

  • Experience in flexographic print production management.
  • Experience in staff supervision, training, and development.
  • Experience in quality control and assurance in a printing environment.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage department budgets.
  • Ability to develop and integrate Work Instructions.
  • Ability to train employees in SOPs, Work Instructions, and safety best practices.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance.
  • Ability to investigate defects and provide Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Reports.
  • Proficiency in using AVT and Lake Image systems.
  • Experience with Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance approaches.
  • Proficiency in using MVPone for tracking maintenance.
  • Experience with 5S initiatives.
  • Ability to work with vendors and OEM technicians.
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting efforts for complex printing issues.
  • Experience working with substrate and ink suppliers.
  • Ability to optimize ink formulations and curing processes.
  • Ability to conduct safety walkthroughs and promote PPE use.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of flexographic print Production.
  • Coordinates with Scheduling/Planning to improve efficiency and maximize On-Time-Delivery.
  • Coordinates with PM, Pre-Press and Shipping & Receiving to improve workflow processes.
  • Monitor performance and make changes as needed to improve efficiency, solve problems, and meet production goals.
  • Assess and manage Production Capacity & Resources to meet forecasted demand.
  • Assign specific tasks and timelines to individuals Team members to achieve production goals.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like production rate, downtime, and rejection rates to quickly identify bottlenecks, delays, or inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure availability of inks, substrates, and other materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and usage to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Approve requisitions and manage department budgets.
  • Design and deliver technical training programs for press operators and support staff to build technical competency across the department.
  • Manage, train, and support Operators, Associates and other department personnel.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings geared to improve teamwork and culture.
  • Coach Supervisors on how to utilize data to improve production outcomes and personnel issues.
  • Develop and integrate clear and concise Work Instructions into the MPG QMS.
  • Train employees in pertinent QMS Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Train employees in pertinent Job Hazzard Assessment and Safety best practices for their role and the department.
  • Constant oversite providing “in the moment” feedback to Team members.
  • Maintain an Employee Skills Assessment document to monitor Team member progression.
  • Work with employees to set personal goals that go beyond basic job requirements to foster individual growth.
  • Provide technical guidance to press operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure jobs meet specifications by verifying proofs, monitoring registration and color accuracy, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Enforce established standards to ensure products meet the required quality levels.
  • Investigate defects and provide Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Reports when warranted.
  • Ensure proper and consistent use of AVT and Lake Image systems.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to resolve quality issues and improve standards.
  • Partner with QA teams to define print quality standards and inspection criteria.
  • Support customer audits and technical reviews as needed.
  • Ensure machinery is properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance.
  • Confirm execution and thoroughness of weekly Preventative Maintenance performed by press crews.
  • Implement a Predictive Maintenance approach to minimize downtime, extend equipment lifespan, and avoid unplanned failures.
  • Effectively use MVPone to track and record inspections, repairs, and replacements to prevent failures, extend asset lifespan, and minimize downtime.
  • Tracks and schedules routine OEM Wellness Checks for all critical equipment.
  • Daily inspection and documentation of employee commitment to 5S initiatives.
  • Work with vendors and OEM technicians for equipment upgrades or troubleshooting.
  • Maintain documentation and manuals for training and reference.
  • Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the production process.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex printing issues, including registration, ink adhesion, and print defects.
  • Work closely with substrate suppliers to ensure process compatibility and performance goals are achievable.
  • Work closely with ink suppliers to resolve issues related to ink viscosity, drying, color matching, and VOC off gassing.
  • Optimize ink formulations and curing processes for various substrates.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with corporate and industry standards.
  • Constant oversite providing “in the moment” feedback to Team members.
  • Conducts weekly Safety Walkthroughs documenting areas of improvement and Good Catches.
  • Coach department supervisors on StandDown Meeting execution when warranted.
  • Manages dosimeter program returning and issuing badges by the planned timeline.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure technical processes comply with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Support audits and documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Promote PPE use and safe handling of inks, solvents, and press equipment.
  • Implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Lead initiatives to improve print quality, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance print quality, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades or new technologies to improve department capabilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and OEMs for equipment trials, installations, and technical support.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams during product development or process transitions.
  • Document and communicate technical changes to stakeholders.
