About The Position

Lithium Americas is seeking a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, to join its Finance Department. This role will be responsible for facilitating the ongoing development of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions for Lithium Americas’ Nevada operations, including Thacker Pass, and contributing to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. The role will assist in the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose financial policies and procedures as the organization grows, principally through the development of Thacker Pass, including its commissioning and production ramp-up to nameplate capacity. This is an opportunity for a finance professional with FP&A experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join a high-growth, mission-driven organization committed to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the clean energy sector. The role is based at the Reno, NV office and reports to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis. Travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations will be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting mandatory.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a FP&A management role, ideally in mining or similar industry, including with development projects.
  • Experience interfacing, presenting, and dealing with both site based and senior management.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
  • Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and oversee the Nevada-based FP&A resources and related activities, including development of related systems as well as management reporting, budgeting & forecasting tools, reports and deliverables.
  • Assist with the implementation of SAP for Thacker Pass and related operational business readiness activities.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Advise key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management and related analysis.
  • Liaison with the corporate FP&A team to help meet corporate FP&A, statutory and Board reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic operational goals and objectives for the Company’s Nevada operations, including Thacker Pass.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
  • Assist with the upgrade and implementation of appropriate system of policies, procedures, controls and related activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the Company’s Nevada operations, including Thacker Pass.
  • Track operational cost-savings efforts for the Company’s Nevada operations, putting in place related processes, where necessary.
  • Provide on-going analytical support to the management team, including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
  • Support business development and financing activities, as necessary.
